Avatars Disappearing?

For a while now I have noticed that avatars will sometimes disappear after a page has fully loaded.  That is, the avatars are visible while the page is still loading, but when the page has finished loading one or more pictures are no longer displayed.  I mainly use Chrome, but I believe I was able to reproduce it once in IE (the "red X" placeholder showed up for IE*, but I was able to retrieve the URL of the image and successfully load it).  Because of the seemingly random nature, I have not been able to reproduce this on demand.

It doesn't appear to be a critical problem, but I wanted to make sure the admins had heard about it.  Or, alternatively, figure out what fix I need to apply locally.

*(whereas Chrome only displays a blank space where the image would go)

I haven't encountered this problem or managed to produce it on Opera.

How often does it happen?

On Firefox, I notice that some avatars simply don't show up. I don't think I've ever caught one in the act of disappearing, though.

It appears to me to be random, but just today it has happened with maybe 3 or 4 threads in a row.  It only affects some users in a given thread, though (and the users it affects changes from thread to thread).  I will try to see if I can find any patterns.

On loading up this thread, Weissmeman's avatar displayed for a split second before disappearing!  Maybe it's the way Chrome reacts to how the forum software is handling the images.  I'm glad it's not all in my head, though! :D

Using Chrome as well, it tends to make avatars disappear sometimes, but I figured it was because of my terrible connection.

I haven't really noticed avatars disappearing.. I use firefox..
