Saying "Hello!"
« on: May 23, 2003, 03:29:13 am »
'<img'>  HI there.

I just saw a posting from HollyAnne's Clean Furry Art boards, and it was about this place so I never heard of it before and thought it might be kool to check out.

I've been reading though everything and it all seems pretty nice.  '<img'>

I'm just an artist. A very pregnant artist. I'm due next month. My husband is also an artist. Our business just hasn't been the same since 911. Neither has the economy. (I blame Bush.)

But, at least I still have my art. I'm terribly dislexic tho' so i spell everything all WRONG. Sorry. I try.

I graduated from the Art Institute of Philadelphia and majored in Computer Animation specializing in Traditional 2D (hand drawn) animation. The day I graduated, I sware, the opertunities to get a job died. '<img'>

Eh- but what can you do about it?  ''

I like all kinds of arts. I got into Furry Art in College. My roommate got me into it. IN fact she got all of my roommates into it.

Most of what I'm known for is my Unicorns and Gryphons. That's probably the only that people actually buy from me, also. I was a dealer in the Anthrocon last summer, and I sold pleanty of Unicorns and Gryphons. anything else just mainly sat there.

I really hope the economy gets better so my husband doesn't have to draw portraits on the street. We're kinda going out of business now. He wanted to try and stay open in the mall until Father's Day. But, with all the Terrorits Hype, no one will go out anywhere and spend money. So, he might close down on Memorial Day.

It's sad. But, oh well....

Hello and welcome!

Pregnant you say? Congratulations on a blessed event!

I am sorry to hear about your business though. We know how trying iit can be at times to keep your own business afloat! I wish you luck!

Draw any pregnant furries? I know there was a spell once that I drew a couple with younguns. Just a phase I went through though.

I love unicorns. Well, they are equine, right? I'm Kada-Ru, a Golden Pegasus. I did do a drawing of an "Alicorn". Do you know what that is? Some one told me several years ago that it was a mix between a unicorn and a pegasus.

I have only drawn one "Griffon". I am planning on creating more when I get more comfortable with how they are supposed to look! '<img'>

I would love to see your work! Please show?  '<img'>

Yeah, I'm very pregnant! She's kicking me allot!!!!

OUCH!

 ''

Yeah, the business was doing great for years. But, just not now.
*Wishing the economy was as fantastic as it was in the 1990s*

NO, I haven't done any pregnat furries. I did some Fertility stuff. but, it's not exactly the same thing. It's not sex either. Some of them weren't furry either.

Hey! Nice artwork! I love the use of color in your "Griffon" picture! Soooooooooo nice!

Cute Equines also!

um..... er.....
but... uh..... the last time I checked "Alicorn" is the word for a unicorn's horn....  ''

.....or at least... that's what it says in my nonfiction unicorn books.

Eh, who cares anyway?

Heya, BlackUniGryphon. Welcome to the furtopia.org forums. '<img'>
Can we call you BUG? That's the initials of your nick name, it seems. '<img'>

Anyways...
Congrats on the upcoming addition to your family. Good luck with the delivery and all the years to come involving the child rearing and whatnot. '<img'>

It's a pity about your husband's business. The US economy's been slumping a bit extra hard lately, it seems. I'm a Canadian, but I notice the difference when the news reports that the currency exchange and Canadian dollar is stronger than it's been in several years. At least it makes Anthrocon look a bit more affordable to me. Heh.
I work at a small (very few employees... namely just me) print shop, myself. Things have been busy lately, but even then, some of the small jobs don't garnish enough pay to really make them worthwhile. I suppose that's just a bad pricing scheme, really.

I'm an artist as well, but I haven't been drawing or painting all that much lately. I've got a BA in Fine Arts from the University of Toronto.... but I spend much of my time doing graphic design work for print or the internet.

Oh, and as for your web site... It looks decent. If you want a better host than GeoCities, I suggest you apply for hosting here at furtopia.org. WhiteShepherd runs a pretty solid server, free from a lot of the headaches that GeoCities users often get.

BUG?  '<img'>  LOL!!!! That's Kool! I like that.

I was a dealer at the Anthrocon last year. I did OK. I was planning to attend again this year. But, I got pregnant and the due date conflicted to much with the AC dates. I had to cancel everything. The AC folks were pretty perterbed about it. I think they really didn't want to give me back my refund.

BUt, now that the Economy is so bad, I'm feeling like maybe it was a good move to not go this year. I would still like to attend, but I doubt I'll even have enough Money to go. Or if I'll even give birth on time, late, and whether I'll have recovered. I'm having too many problems as it is already.

I guess I am pretty talkative these days, since I have no one to really talk to. When I was in Philly, I was like so-so on the talkative scale. BUt, moving up to Massachusettes is totally different. folks here have 3 word conversations. so, most people say I'm too talkative.... at least anyone who has nerve enough to try and talk to me.  ':.'

I like Sci-Fi too!

Seems like folks are so nice in here.
I was in Yerf last night and my posts almost all got erased.  '<img'>

So, ya like my pic?  '<img'>

I got lots of Gryphon drawings and uniconrs and stuffs like that.

(giggles) Bug.... interesting. It is rather unique of course!

I looked at your website and I just LOVE your art! So whimsical is the only thing I can think of. I have to admit I really adore your wings and the 'hair' that seems to just 'swim' all about on the horses etc! Great work and don't worry, on here, being talkative is a GREAT plus!

(smiles) I remember those 'kicking' days to this day and my son is 29!

Good luck and sorry to hear about AC. It would have been nice to meet you there! Next time.  '<img'>

Thanx for the art compliment.

Since my pregnantcy I've been all hormonal, and my brain is just DEAD, so drawing is crappy these days.

My hubby just bought a condo, and that sucked up lots of the savings. I'm still waiting for the "green light" to move in. My hubby went on a packing tangent and my sketchbooks are all packed away. So, I can't much draw.

I'd really love to go out side and paint some landscapes. So, after my baby is born I'm hoping to spend some time in the park painting the lake, and maybe spend some time in the zoo sketching the animals in motion.

I hope my daughter will have the same aperciation for art that my husband and myself have. BUt, at the same time, I'd never ever force it onto her. That's like abuse. I think I'll just keep it as something just for fun.

I'm so anxious to deliver. The past few weeks have been so difficult. I already have welts or hives in my stretch marks. Is that supposed to happen? It itches like Poison Virgina Creeper Ivy.

But, at least I can aleviate some of the back pains with an ellectrick shock muscle stimulator.
I just wish this misbegotten wheather would end. The high pressure just makes everything worse.

She most likely will. I know my mother's line in the family created a LOT of artistic kids! My son inherited my abilities as well and so did one of his own kids.

Just watch her and you will figure out if she wants to enjoy it or not. You will also know if she has inherited some of your talent.

'<img'>  It will clear up after you have your wee one. As for creating any new art after the birth, (giggles) I don't know that you will have time for a couple months. Then, when you aren't cleaning etc while the baby is asleep, you might, maybe, find a few minutes to scribble something on a piece of paper!

Really, it isn't that bad. It is a great experience.

Oh, BTW, I tried using a little bit of your whimsy hair style on my femme dragons, which I have posted here on my forum.

You're probably right. Both my brothers have artistic and musical abilities. My mother and father have a large apreciation for music and even the arts like either figure skating or theater.

Plus, my father is very good at coming up with designs in his hobbies and he engineeered all kinds of nifty inventions.

My mother is rather good at design and decorating and also drew allot when she was young. All of my great grandmothers were big time into art as a hobby.

My paternal grandfather made his living by sculpting toilettes.

And, my Maternal Grandfather was also very skilled with working with his hands: wood carving, barn building, mechanical tinkering, and he played music every day. Even on TV afew times.

Then, there's my husband's familly. They have all kinds of artistic backgrounds. Mostly as a cultural hobby or craftswork. But, my mother in-law is multitallented at everything. She's like Super Woman.

Sounds like your family tree has TONS of artistic abilities! I would not be surprised that your daughter inherits at least one if not more of them. I know my son has my drawing ability but he got his music from his dad.

You are going to have your hands full with this wee one when she starts showing signs of being interested in ALL sorts of artistic outlets!  '<img'>

'<img'>  Yes, you will be able to deal with all of the stuff that comes with being a mom. You will be tired for the first couple months. Babies don't seem to start sleeping through the night till about 1 1/2 - 2 months old. Then you can start getting caught up on some very much needed sleep! I used to always take naps when I put my son down for his. Or, if I didn't need the sleep, it was a very good time to get stuff done around the house!

I was telling WhiteShepherd the other day that as much as I have improved over the past year, I wonder what my abilities will be like come next years AC!

I have one more dragon sketch to color which I might tonight after I get back from work. It is a m/f. So much art to create, so much art to finish! '<img'>

Man I really wish I could go to the free life drawing classes in Philadelphia.

I really need to get my skills back up to paar.

It would be so great if we could all go to life drawing classes together. I just love that!  '<img'>

(giggles) I have never been to an art class, well, just one and I didn't really like it. It wasn't really a class. It was at an art supply store and someone came in and 'taught' an hour 'class' with charcoal.

Other than that one time, I have never been to an art class much less a live one.

They do have the live art shows some times at conventions. I know they did at Further Confusion a couple years back. I don't remember if Anthrocon did/does or not.

Now I'm really impressed!  '<img'>

Hmmmm....

Don't recall any art classes at AC.... Good idea tho'.

'<img'>  No need to be. I am just trying to get what I see onto paper. I some times think my art would be much better if I had taken courses like a lot of the good artists I have seen! I also look a lot at others artwork and try to figure out how they did this or how they did that. It isn't always easy but I keep trying!

That pic I did with charcoal was a still life and I hate doing still life. When WS gets back from his funeral trip I will take a pic of the art piece and post it. I had a lot of troubles doing the shading the way it actually was on the table and drawing the 'items' but I did what I could. I also added my own 'version' of what I saw. The 'teacher' and other folks there liked it but I wasn't as pleased as they were because I knew I didn't really get what I saw on the paper.  '<img'>  The 'teacher' was also surprised I signed and dated it!

I know I have improved since then. I also haven't done any more still life since then!  '<img'>

Oh, also, the live artshow they had at FC was of live animals. I think they also had some humans but I don't know if it was with or without clothing. I didn't attend since I was so busy working in the Creator's Lounge.

You don't really need to spend the money on classes. Since you have the mindset to ask questions about "the visual", and question yourself, and try different things.

That's what makes a real artist good anyways.

Art classes are more about atmosphere and techniques, and theories.

But, i still say Life Drawing classes are worth every penny.

You're already tallented, anyways.

I think your stuff is great!
