Greetings All

I guess I should start be telling you what brought me here.

A few months ago, I never even heard of furidom. I discovered it while looking for pictures of foxes. Curious at what was meant by 'furry', I did some research and found a variety of definitions; some good, some not so good. And some that definitely applied to me.

I mean, I do have pictures of animals hanging all over my walls. I even have them as wallpaper on my computer. And I change my wallpaper fairly often. (Sometimes its dragons or other animals, but most of the time its foxes.)

I almost always where t-shirts with animal pictures on them. Mostly wolves, but that's because I haven't found many shirts with good fox pictures.

Also, I do somehow feel associated with the fox.
(In case you hadn't already guessed)

Anyways, I recently discovered that I have a hard time initiating contact with people. Okay, so actually I've known this for a quite some time, but only recently did I notice how much it was holding me back.

I have a job that I hate. I don't really know anybody outside my family. And I'm in my late 20's and still living at home. Something has to change. (Gees, just reading this make me feel like a loser ':p' )

So, I decided I should find a message board online where there are people with similar interests and begin talking with them.  I remembered how many of the furry descriptions describe the furry community as being very open and against putting others down. Also, since a fursona is used, I could feel more comfortable talking about myself.

So I did a search for a furry message board and wound up here. '<img'>

Hey there, Vararam. Welcome to the furtopia.org forums. '<img'>
I think furry may very well appeal to you in some way or another. You speak of foxes, but are you interested in anthropomorphised foxes and the like? I suppose you would be, or else you'd not be here... '<img'>
If you have any furry-related questions, this is a great place to discuss them and hopefully find some answers. '<img'>

Welcome Vararam,

This is definitely a friendly group to hang-out with.

I've been using the Internet and my furry persona to help overcome my shyness.  You may want to try some of the furry mucks like Furrymuck or Furcadia.  The real-time chat nature of these places makes them a good place to practice conversation skills.

Fàiltich Mo Muinntir!

Welcome Vararam. Seems that pretty much everything has ben said. Oh well, we are all pretty friendly here.

I understand your shyness in RL. I used to be like that, but it goes away in time.
Life? Ha, the greatest joke. Tis surely proof that God has a sense of humor, all be it a sadistic one.

Actually yes, very much so.

I had to take a speech class once. (Which thankfully was not as bad as thought it would be) The first thing we had to do was tell are names and answer the question: "If you could be an animal, what type would you be?"

Of course my first thought was a fox, but the question didn't sound specific enough for me. I mean, would I be stuck in this form permanently? Some of my favorite hobbies are drawing, programming, and playing computer games (not necessarily in that order); if I was stuck as a pure fox, I probably couldn't do these things. So would a half-fox count?
Needless to say, I kind of choked on the whole 'choose an animal' thing.

Thinking back on it now, if I was going to be stuck as pretty much any animal I would lose those things. So I should of just said fox. Should of just said fox.

Okay, so as an ape or a monkey I might still be able to do these things. But I'm not really interested in apes and monkeys.
(No offence to any apes or monkeys out there)

That's the beauty of being a furry. You can be an animal AND do all the really cool things we do everyday.

Heck, if I was a pure black-backed jackal, this Seshem couldn't do tarot readings or pass out Welcome Yummy Treat Baskets or offer tea.  '<img'>

Welcome to our home away from home, Vararam!

You said in your intro that you like drawing, do you have some samples to share? This group is notorious for wanting to see others creations!  '<img'>  I'm no different. '<img'>

If you would like to check out the rest of Furtopia check out these links: artwork, stories and poetry, and music.

Also, if you don't have a webpage already and you want one to put all your creations on (80% furry) click here.

I'm Kada-Ru, the Golden Pegasus and mated to WhiteShepherd and together we created this home away from home for fursons to enjoy!

I hope you enjoy your stay!

I would have just said "liger" myself, but that's just me. I don't know if I'd bother indicating the "anthropomorphic" part since that'd likely get followed up with a lot of questions and the usual ensuing confusion. '<img'>

Anyways...
Good to have ya around.
Make yourself at home, and enjoy the forums here. '<img'>

Heh...welcome! I personaly am not a Furry, I am a Dragon. Some would argure that it is the same thing, but I mean so in a far more litteral sence then Furrie fandom applies to.

What makes one a Furrie?
