Animatronics and silly stuff (first time posting)
« on: September 15, 2003, 06:14:51 pm »
Ok, First post (second actualy but the first didnt seem to post lol maybe itll pop up some time)

I have a few questions, first,
once I get the materials to finish my fursuit ideas, should I:
1. Brush rush the dyes in,
or
2. Use an airbrush (I use Badger 150s and a Badger T-175)
and
Should I use a white base fur or start with a grey fur with a white undercoat? (charactors to be made *eventualy* a RedFox, and a Raccoon, and one purple raccoon)
-------------------------
Also, I make use of animatronics, however I dont feel I should use it in the suits, maybe for a random ear twich or eye blink? Or should I go all the way with a programable (Wizzard 2 board) and emoptions on differant magnetic switches or timers or have someone else controll it remotley?
I dont know if i would rather just not deal with it n sue the fursuits at cons and for fun, rather then worry about the electronics and how it looks,
-------------------------
EYES=
about the eyes, should i go with concave lenses and paint them fromt he inside, and look threw the corners of the eyes, or do the traditional painted screen eyes?
or get all geeky and use a 12vdc video camera in the muzzle and a pair of virtual I/O glasses to see? (might be neat cuse it'd be IR lol)
-------------------------
Should I just not worry abou tit untill i get the materials together? do I ask too many questions? lol
What use is animatronics in fursuits anyways unless done realy realy well with realy expencive quiet servos its virtualy useless due to the fact that no matter how hard I try itll always look very synthetic ^.^ lol
Is the money better spent on cooling (cammel pack hydration system, and maybe some fans and even a small pump and some hosing and cooling fins sewn into the body suit for liquid cooling?)  what to do what to do.
-------------------------
I guess basicly I am trying to find my place my artiostic talent, I do many differant things so I figured I'd ask and see what ppl think I do better, Lemme know what ya think maybe?
lol
I ask too many questions  ''
gotta run, I'll chack back later ^.^

While I don't have a response to your post, I do have something to say.

Welcome to Furtopia, you should introduce yourself in the furry greetings forum when you get a chance. '<img'>

Erm, Well reading you post, I think this is more about Fursuiting than artwork..

but on to your questions,

I tend to use an airbrush (badger t-175) myself for fine detail using a very fine paint/dye.. it tends to give the best coloring.
I would start with white fur.

Animatronics are fun but don't over do it.. I have used them for an ear twich or a tail wagging.. but thats about all.

Depends on where the head is in relation to yours.
Painted screen shows what it is. Concave leanses with glass paint dont show, and work really well as you can see out through them.

I would say get the materials and see what happens.
Servos can be nosiy so only use them when you need too.
I can help you make them look more realistic if you do decide to use them.
Cooling is the most important thing in a fursuit as it does get very hot in there.. Espicaly if you plan to be in one for the whole day..

Ok, Thank you very much ^.^
It's just I've never actualy built a fursuit before and I think I'm getting the "get it right the first time" syndrome, even though I know my first wont be my best, lol i'm even looking into funky string like Vectran and spider-wire so I dont pop seems, even though I don't have anywere near the amount required to buy the materials lol,
I don't think I'll use animatronics now that I think of it, maybe tail stuff, but I don't think I need it, especialy in a first suit.
but I may go with the glass eues if I can get em close enough to my face to look out the corners of them leaving a space for it, but then again I still don't know it will be a while ^.^
thank you soooo much for the help, anymore fursuit questions I'll take it to the respective forum ^.^
*hugz* talk to ya later,

*nods*

I told you it was Benjamin.

*hugs WillowFox* I hope it all goes well with your fursuit WillowFox, let me know if I can help you with anything.

Anamitronics are not really needed in a fursuit other than for ears, or a tail. I did help make one fursuit that was fully anamtronic .. but it was over 7.6 foot tall..

Keep in touch
