It's not perfect, but at least it's progress! I'd love to be able to record my dreams. :)

Hmmm. Kinda reminds me of this film.

Sure it can show something simple like a fuzzy image of a man but how well does it stack up against ponies?
But seriously I'd like to see how well it does on someone with a very active mind. Like mine for example, I have ADHD so I'm usually thinking of about 5 different things at once and its pretty hard to focus on just one thing without medication.

O.o
dayum, progress has been made..

I thought this was pretty cool when I heard about it. My understanding is that they are trying to create something that would help stroke victims who have lost the ability to speak communicate.
Of course the sci-fi nerd in me did start thinking about all the movies and stories about going into people's dreams.

i wonder
could this develop into something that can give someone dreams
like transfer a projection into the mind of someone sleeping
make them dream what you want them to...

That sounds similar to the movie Dreamscape.

I imagine there's a vast gap between watching what someone's mind is doing and actively interfering to make it do something else. Supposing you already found a way to do that, this might be useful as a reference so you knew what you were making their mind do, but other than that I don't think it really helps with manipulating anything.

Why can't the scientists just admit that this is just cool technology to work on? :D

I see it as reading a book without owning a pen. Without the pen you can't write in the book, and the workings of a pen are almost completely unrelated to how you read a book. So, it'll probably be a long time before any machine can induce dreams with a successful rate.

That reminds me of the movie Total Recall, and Tranquility lane in Fallout 3. More Total Recall.

Someone will probably make a movie about this...a mystery movie where the protagonist gets these surreal images of people's minds and has to deduce what really happened.

Wow. That's certainly interesting, to say the least. Imagine what you could do with this stuff...

THIS IS SO AWESOME! i've always wanted to be able to watch out dreams and remanense on our fun ones or even out scary ones to show our friends and family, just think of how many more great things could come from dreaming. so many ideas already have and thats just from what we remember, now if we can go back and look at our dreams, whats ahead of us?

I'm reminded of the movie "Until The End of The World" 8)

I saw this and HAD to see it. It amazed me. And to think not long ago we were SURE the world was flat. A bit after hat we were SURE we would not have a black president. Just think about what we'll be SURE about tomorrow.
