Random Art stuff, inspired by bordom. (4 large pics)
« on: August 23, 2009, 09:49:13 pm »
So,   i don't know what all of this i've posted before...  so...  O.o      yeah,   most,  if not all of it is new.

(random k9,   i think i really killed the eyes   =\  )

random...  desert attempt.  I like how it turned out.  ^.^

(Orisi was my first real RP character,   an evil black dragon with the ability to appear human.  (that was a LONG time ago,  but i wanted to try drawing'm)

an attempt at Alsek,   not so happy with the head.   The furs also a bit ruffled,  but that's understandable with him often being a mountain dweller.

I would love any criticism,   Constructive or not.   I struggle with body proportions and anatomy and all that...  a LOT.   None of these are from different pictures,   only from me just trying to draw.  Thank'ye!  :P

Well, it's all new to me! ^^

I like how you're one of the few people who's digital art characters are actually "furry".

Well, I do like the first picture, but the only thing that looks a bit odd is the eye on the right.
The second drawing was watercolor? I like how its kind of a washed out effect as if its a mirage or something.
I really like the third drawing, I think you put a lot of, I don't know what to call it but if you look at it the right way you understand the true nature of the drawing ie: the transparent dragon wings, head.
I do like the last drawing, to me it doesn't look out of proportion except for the feet and the ankles, but, I can't do any better  :D
I really do like the furry, scruffy look to it. To me I think that's the way furry bodies should be drawn (if you want a furry body of coarse)spelling?

But overall I really like your drawings.

I like the first pic a lot. :) You should make a fursuit head of that. ;)

That last drawing looks great, for the most part. The only advice I'd give you would be to sit down with a pencil and try to figure out how exactly you want your digitigrade legs to work. Everyone seems to draw them differently... you just need to look at what other artists have done and come up with a method that both looks proportional and satisfies you. Remember that while human legs have two main divisions, digitigrade legs have three (thigh, shin, and foot), and they're all sort of similarly sized, which means that an anthro's thigh is going to be proportionally shorter than a human's. Right now, it looks like you're trying to draw a human-sized thigh and shin and also squash the foot in there, which might be why it looks "off."

Hope that helped something. I'm not an artist, so I never know whether I'm allowed to talk in these sorts of threads. :D

In relation to arbutus's post, I usually draw my digitgrade legs with nearly standard thighs, but remove length from the shin segment, which gets added to the foot. However, the overall length is still slightly greater when added up, because unlike with plantigrade legs, digitigrade legs are rarely shown as going straight up.
