There's a lot of different "furry lifestyles" out there, really. It's hard to really put down a solid opinion of them. Basically, like anyone else, I try to judge each one on their own merits. Some are just a bit more loony than others.

I consider myself a furry lifestyler, in a way, because furry encompasses much of my creative time, friendships, and even spirituality. It's a big part of my life that I simply couldn't put away and shut out of myself. I can put it on hold and supress it for some life situations, of course, but it's still a part of who I am as a person.

I would have to agree with Benjamin on his points.  Myself I concider myself a lifestyler.  Being furry/canine encompases part of my personailty (in a good way) and I enjoy being myself in spirit "The friendly white dog." '<img'>

I agree with Benjamin and White Shepherd.  I now consider myself a lifestyler.  After attending AC this year, I pretty much accepted that there was a name to some part of my personality that I knew I had but couldn't quite put my finger on it.  That name was furry.  My furry side is wolf, to be specific a wolf pup.  He is not only my muse when I draw and write, that little kid wolf is what makes me still scream like a fool on a rollercoaster, stare bug-eyed at a big screen as Rafiki holds up little Simba to the animal kingdom, and read a C. S. Lewis or Tolkien book and still find adventure in it even after reading it a dozen times.  '<img'>

I'm still fairly new to furrydom. I have been attending cons though since 1997. I love the activities etc.

AC 2001 and 2002 were very special to me since I was able to share both of them with the one love and soul mate in my life! (giggles as I wink at WhiteShepherd)

I know we run Furtopia and I draw anthros etc and most of our time (80%) is spent thinking furry so I guess in a way I would be considered a lifestyler as well.

I like the people, the characters, personalities, and artwork etc of most furries. They seem so open. I guess that is the best way I can describe it.

In the very beginning though I was a bit shy about all the hugging stuff but have gotten used to it. I still am shy at hugging new furs but that is just me.

When I was knee-high to a pole cat, I always wanted to grow up and be a horse. One with wings to get away from any and all danger that I sensed. Well, now I am that pegasus in my character. A golden pegasus with blue mane/tail and leg featherings.

And now, I fly high up into the clouds with my loving white shepherd beside me or riding on my back and enjoying the breeze in our furs!

Ok, I have rambled on enough... next?

I never really had a good grasp of the term 'lifestyler' until I read this area of the forum. And I can actually say I am a lifestyler for the first time. It definately influences me everyday and shaped some of my core beliefs.

The panther has been a part of my character for as long as I remember, although a long time ago I found a large measure of dragon too.

heh, I wonder if it's possible to be a 'split furry personality'  '<img'>

I don't see why not. I know for me, I found I have several animal spirits with me. My main is the Pegasus though. Each of them is a different side of me and they come out at different times or depending on my mood.

I too have a panther. (giggles) When I was on FM or TAPS she was always getting me into trouble! I find now in RL that that part of me is still around and comes out every now and then.

I used to wounder weather I was a fox or a wolf, untill about 2 years ago when I accepted that I was both.. a folf. Although my furry side looks mostly like a black wolf.. there is alot of fox in the way I act.

I got into furries along time ago, but I have been drawing and writing furries since I could draw and write. I only found out about furries when I got onto FurNation and then to my first convention.
I was sure I had found myself and have been a furry and proud to show it ever since.

I have tried to put alot of support, information and help back into the furry comunity. Including helping others see what it all means.

I am here to help, if you have any questions or want to talk, just howl at me.

lol Chaz being feline oriented I doubt I'll ever "howl" at you, but you never know;)

Whether I am a feline or a gryphon varies...though I was blessed with a gryphon dream the first night in this house a week ago...:)  Normally I'm feline...I identify with ocelot because it's the smallest of the big cats, and because it draws me...and because I have an ocelot mask from Lyonshel!'<img'>  As for lifestyling...I wear my ears everywhere except work, (they just don't work stuffed under a baseball cap that keeps my hair out of my face...and I've yet to cut holes in the darn thing for them) and it influences my taste (I prefer feline/gryph anthros to anything, and anthros of any kind to human...tho I think Centaur males would get a bit painful...:P);)  Alas, I have yet to meet any, so I make do with humans.

I've considered myself a lifestyler for a long time.  Those who know me know I'm a helping and friendly dog.

My personality has always followed canines.  I grew up caring and taking care of animals when I was young.  I was around nature and animals more than people.  I also preferred the world of nature over people.  I would spend days deep in the woods laying in the leaves and watching the sun stream through the leaves like water.  It was my world.  I had my dogs who were always with me.  I also was always watching and learning.  I would spend days watching insects when I found something new to a lone curious child.  I watched animals build their lives learning and knowing life is precious to all of us.  All that is a part of me.  It's part of who I am and what people see and feel when they meet me.

I am WhiteShepherd a warm, loving,  and friendly white dog.  My life though many turns has sees me to be many things most importantly a loving mate to my wonderful Kada-Ru.   '<img'>

Yes Fianna, Ears do not work with a hat very well. But I do wear my tail to work and out all the time.. even now.

WhiteShepherd growing up with animals seems to be something alot of furries have in comman. I myself was very luck to grew up looking after wolves. Well they normaly were looking after me '<img'>

I have always had an attraction to them and would like to worjk with them again.  But my life has had alot of ups and down... more downs really.
But on the up side, I help out here and I found my loving mate. Zackary Heartwolf.

Howls to all and big bro, Chaz.

I always had dogs and cats, and I also rescued sick animals, so I've always been very close to animals.

I guess I've always been lupine, but I didn't equate it until I started writing about wolves.  I didn't know I was a furry until this past July, and I'm getting more furry, everyday.  My wolf tendencies include pack loyalty towards friends, socialble to the extreme, (although I can be a real Omega wolf when thrown into an unfamiliar social situation), and I'm very playful.  My fursona is a wolf juvenile.  I chose him (or he chose me) because of this child-like playfulness.  I still like to play soccer, and I still run to be the first one on a rollercoaster.

As for me, I'd go all the way with a fursuit if I had the finances to have one built.

Signed a cartoon, soccer, and rollercoaster loving pup,
Patrick

Chaz hun, mad props to you for wearing your tail to work...I have to confess to not wearing my ears as much for the past few days, but I've been having bad hair days and they kinda clash with my blue headrag.  I'd cut holes, but the headrag folds, and I'd be all the time annoyed at having to adjust it.  :P  When I GET a tail, I'll wear it everywhere, even work.  One of these days I'll get around to cutting ear holes in my hat, too...and to top it off, the hat has a kitty face on the front!'<img'> *giggles* Anyway, Blessings to all from a really tired Kytti.

Furry lifestyles hmm what too say never really thought about it. Furry sought of crept up on me until wham there i was a furry. I Have a fair bit of furry art adorning my wall's at home. I have a bear hat of sorts with the ears. I only wore it when i was role playing though. If you hadn't guessed already I consider myself a bear. I don't actualy think im a bear but I empathise ( I think i just made up a word) with the bear nature. As said befor it's hard too find the words too pin down the spiritual side of it for me anyway. It's kinda of like explaning what the sole is.
As for me I live a secluded furry life too most of my family and friends ( as most have shown dislike of the idea). But It is still there in my personality It's always there habits and so forth that let me express it with none but the informed the wiser. Long live the days when this won't be labled an odd lifestyle. '<img'>
I find ways too live a furry life just wish it could be more open. Hey a shy bear who would have thought it.

Agreed Bear Paw,

It is very hard to find the words to get some of these points across..

But atleast we try and get there in the end. '<img'>

I am very open about my furryness and always have been.
But lastnight I went out without wearing my wolf tail for once.. and I was going to meet some other furries. LOL
I tried to look normal when meeting other furs, but wear my tail to work.

I'd like to see that pic too!

Us Vancouver Furs out here in BC have monthly meets. We gather together at a volunteer's house, have pot-luck dinners, play games, watch movies/anime, and generally revel in the fuzziness. It's great. Not everyfur has ears or a tail to wear, but it's often enough seen at the meets on a few. And sometimes collars and leashes to match.

There's also the dinner meets or the newest thing, Bubble Tea meets. If anyone wants to see some pics I host  a few of the recent ones at this addy:

Hmmm.  I know I'm not a lifestyler.  The thing about me, is that my character is an avatar for me, or a symbol, nothing more.  I don't feel furry or have a furry spirituality.  I am not a particular species: Ayame as a character is a certain species, because the Chinese Dragon means something to me symbolically.

The other thing is,  I love animals and I love people.  Furries are some of the most accepting people out there.  It is good to be around that kind of acceptance sometimes.  '<img'>

Since I love both animals and people, I suppose it's natural to make furry art, as in my opinion, it combines the best of both worlds.  '<img'>
