Doesn't work like that, 2x dual-cores can do double the amount of pure maths, however most of the time a computer is just running instructions, not doing maths (hence my supercomputer comments in your other thread), so in normal use a 1x single core 2.66GHz machine will feel almost as fast as having 4 cores running at the same speed, all other things being equal.
