Has this happened to you?
« on: September 10, 2007, 09:19:08 pm »
Has anything ever happened to you that was furry in public, but you didn't know you were doing it?

About a month ago, I was walking home from drivers ed, when I reached my neighborhood (my house is at the bottom of a hill). I started to jog, then run, then i started to daydream. I'm almost at the bottom of the hill, then I 'wake up'. I realized that i was running on all fours! ''  The next events were as follows: *trip* *smack face into ground*  ':dead:'  Luckily, everybody in my area has a job (its about noon), so nobody saw me. So odd...

So, I was wondering if anyone else's short attention span has caused them to do something like this (although maybe not to this extent '<img'> )

How the heck do ya space out so  much to be running DOWN a hill on all 4s? Id have fallen over the second my hands hit the pavement.. Up stairs, yea done that in all 4s.

Gonna shift this over to lifestylers as more of them may tend to do this type stuff...

Next time ya might wanna consider a helmet, pavemet + head = ouch

fyi, i don't have ADD or anything like that, so I'm not sure how. i did realize that i can't consciously focus while running like that. '<img'>

I space out all the time, except for different reasons.

Most of the time I'll wake up and I'll be curled up, that's sort of close.

... Can't say that's happened to me, no.

Not to say that I haven't spaced out and done crazy things before, though.

Ive spaced out that much once. I was in gym class and it was a do-whatever-you-want-with-the-equipment day, and i had nothing to do so i just stood around and ended up practically sleep-standing in the middle of the gym with my tongue hanging  out. Some kids were playing basketball and one of them threw it across the gym and, being half asleep, i didnt see it. As its flying directly towards me, some kids notice and shout "Watch out! head's up!!". Of course i didnt notice, so the ball smacks me directly in the forehead and i go flying back still daydreaming, in some sort of zen state with a stunned what-the-hell-just-hapened look , leading to me skidding back like a ragdoll  ':dead:' . It hurt when i hit the ground, but it was funny.
Its all moved to here: http://www.furaffinity.net/user/keryth/
Ya know, me being here has a inevitable sense of irony since truthfully, I am not a furry.

personally, i dont need to space out for that sort of thing to happen. i am what you could call a hard-core fur, so when i go up the stairs, i do it on all fours, when im gettin someone's attention, i yelp/bark at them, and so on. my best friend is my Sheltie, Jack. I try to follow his examples, because he is so sweet and pure. but thats just me! ':p'

i'm having avie issues... if anyone wanted to PM me to help that would be nice :) you guys changed how it worked while i was gone! :O

When I had a do-whatever-you-want-with-the-equipment day at school, I did a front flip off of a spring board and smacked my face square on top of a wooden thingy. If I remember well I had a nose bleed and wasn't allowed to use the equipment anymore after that.

I only 'space out' when I'm in the wood of the nature trail behind my house.

That's when I really feel feral- I run away... well, okay, climb trees... to get away from 'approaching humans'.

But I'm fully aware of myself when it happens.

Spacing out is quite useful sometimes. I can bring it on at will and most of the time I'll do it to pass the time quickly if I'm really bored. I just imagine my self flying over vast land scapes and feel the wind in my face, and then the 2 hour car journey is over ^.=.~

I like to meditate, I guess you could call that spacing out (?)  Never done it while moving though ...

I think the only things in public i do without realising is make strange noises. Coz all my friends are used to it they've become a real 'bad habit' that i dont know im doing.

Last time i got a piercing i jumped up onto the chair and squeaked as i sat down. The poor woman looked so confused.

Same here i do a lot of weird stuff daydreaming or not, I remember sitting on my couch and started to daydream, when I came to I was lying on the floor curled into a little ball, with my tongue hanging out and a chewed up leather belt next to me '' oh I also remember a time when I walked in for a refresher course at the base with my tail and ears on without realizing it

I experience mental shifts in sports, especially paintball.  While in a shift I sense the people around me's emotional state and position, and have the ultimate stealth.

I can barely run up the stairs on two feet.

---

Furry tenancies? Of course. There's the stairs thing, and a few others. Particularly, I have developed the habit of going to grab my tail when I'm not wearing it. It's so awkward. xD
Furry since 1996, and going strong. <3

It's probably a Purely mental thing, but whenever I get up into the mountains everything seems so much sharper and clearer- sight (especially contrast between shadows) smells, hearing, and even touch. That's why I like to go camping so much...

And if it's raining or snowing... the happiest I've ever been is huddled under a tarp while sleet came down, running out to grab some stick to hold the tarp up with, going to sleep with my dog at my feet curled up in my coat, and waking up and seeing fresh snow...

But as for spacing out, yeah, if I start walking around in the forest my mind clears up and I just keep walking and walking...

Well, like I said, I can't focus on it. ^^ Yay! More memories:

I was walking along the beach once, started thinking about furries, next thing I knew, I was five miles past my house! My attention span may have to do with my grades last year. ''
