An alternative to buying ears.
« on: April 04, 2008, 04:36:20 pm »
This amazing idea came/happened to me in a dream. If your hair were the right length, it should be possible to gel (as in hair gel, not a misspelling of get) it in the shape of cat/wolf ears. I would've tried this myself, but i can't find any kind of clip to keep my hair in place. Nope, nor any other kind of clip. Not even a paperclip...

If I had longer hair, I'd definitely give this a try.

Buying years?

Can the title be fixed?

I liked it, it confused me. :p

It could work. I could try it, but my hair is mostly wayward enough without styling products. I might give it a go though... could be fun.

Sorry about the title everyone, and thanks Blastdav. v_v I'd only just woke up from said dream when i posted.

Anyways, i've decided to try this. First, i'm going to see if i can just keep it in the general shape with a clip of some kind. (I know there must be one somewhere) I'll put a photo up when im done.

Edit: I won't really be able to try until tommorow, just so you know.

I can't wait to see. I'm interested to see if it works.
And the rattlesnake said,/"I wish I had hands so/I could hug you like a man."/And then the cactus said,/"Don't you understand,/My skin is covered with sharp spikes/That'll stab you like a thousand knives./A hug would be nice,/But hug my flower with your eyes."

Ugh...Its not working. At all. It'd help if everything wasn't reversed in a mirror...and if i was slightly better at styling hair...and if i could find a bloody HAIRPIN! If i can't find a hairpin, i just don't think it'll work. If i can't find one, anybody else fancy trying this?

Why not just try using moose (Yeah, that's the only way I know how to spell it). It would be kinda sculptable that way. I'd love to try this sometime, but my underground furry status kinda makes it odd.

I also picture it like the jellicle cat ears.  I would be game to try it, but my hair hates me and won't do anything but straight down. Good luck though!

Another idea for a good hold would be a surf board wax called 'Sex Wax'.  When I lived in Florida and did any really punky styles that required real hold, Sex Wax would keep it.  Best part?  Get the cold climate Sex Wax... It washed out with warm water.  :)  (This stuff will hold REALLY long hair up in liberty spikes.  I have no doubt that hair styled into ears would stay with this.)

Does sex wax damage the hair any?  Even just a little?  I have super-long hair, and I've always wanted to see how it would look spiked (or at least radically styled), and no hair gel so far has done the job.  I want to try this new suggestion, but I'm really conscious about my hair's health.

I have never had any issues with it hurting my hair.  If you have trouble getting it out use a 1/2 vinegar/water solution.  ;)  It will take it right out and it is really good for your hair.  :)

Wearing ears is one thing, but gelling your hair into the shape of ears? For one, is it necessary to point out how silly this is? And two, how hard could it be to make some ears... Certainly not as hard as what you're attempting.

I do want to see pictures though, I need a good laugh.

I am not so sure why you call this so silly?  It sounds like a lot of fun.  I also doubt that it would be too hard.  ;)  The fact of the mater is... I don't think it would have as difficult as many hairstyles already are.  ;)

I would completely try this if my hair wasn't so short and asymmetrical.  XD
