Plushies as anger/stress management tools?
« on: May 08, 2010, 02:19:20 pm »
Hi, I was wondering if any of you hug your plushies to relieve stress. I have problems with anger outbursts and I've decided on a plan to help control outbursts by hugging my plushies to calm me down. I just got a red fox plushie that I stroke to calm me down.

Plushies are amazing forms of stress relief. They can really cheer you up when you are feeling down and provide company and friendship when you are lonely. I owe a lot to mine.

I have a collection of plushies.  Many varieties, types, animals, but I keep my big black bear on my bed with me, and recently, I woke up from some weird nightmare, and I was cuddling my bear for dear life.  His name is Moe.

I have two main plushies I cuddle when not 100%. When I have nightmares or panic attacks I cuddle my Marvin the Martian plushie (not an anthro but still a plushie), and when I'm depressed or sick I cuddle a huge squishy red lizard named Winston. They both work marvelously to keep me calm and bring comfort. Then again, I'm a pretty tactile person to begin with.

Plushies are good for stress relief.  :goldbloody: I rip, tear, shred, sit on, throw, mangle, mutilate, and burn my plushies, and just beat the stuffing out of them!  :D

Joke! No, I don't do any of that. I like my plushies. :)

Actually, joking aside, taking your anger out on a plushie, isn't a bad idea providing you don' mind damaging it. They're soft so you won't hurt yourself.

For my dog... but she likes them.  She just carries them around, and actually takes them with her when she climbs up on the couch/bed for a nap.

Awww, that's cute. I've mostly had cats, and they just liked my hair-ties...and my dirty socks for some reason.

But yes, I looooove my stuffed animals.  I have to go to sleep using one as a pillow/hugging it in a death grip.

I definitely use my plushies to relieve stress. They work so very well for that purpose. :)

They can cheer you up or calm you down. Hug one and just tell me you don't feel better, at least a little. :D

So yeah, I have plushies. And they help...which is good...because I tend to be rather a tense person by nature. Anxious and all that. So...I ended up sleeping with a plushie a lot of the time. Preferably my fox. :-[

I am a trifle baffled as to why this topic is in the "lifestyler" section of the forum. Needless semantics, I know, but I hardly think the comforting benefits of a cute lil' plushie are exclusive to furries, what more, to so-called "lifestylers". I think everyone, furry or not, can find some degree of comfort in hugging something small, soft, and adorable.

Oh, and to answer the op's question, Abso-bloody-lutely.  ;)

+1  I never really noticed the location of the topic before now. I agree. Not a big deal though but most of the people I know that are huge fans of plushies in one form or another aren't even furries.  8)

No, not the Tails doll. That thing is the opposite of a stress reliever.
