Speaking of which--should I revamp/edit my old HTML 4.01 tutorial, and post it on Furtopia so that newbies to web creation can learn?
You could.  Though I think basic HTML coding never changes.  Just all the other things that are coded to create different sites change.

Here it is in its original form.  What, if anything, do you think needs revamping?

I started to read the Prologue and actually didn't understand what you were trying to do on this page.  But, that could just be me. LOL  I'm going back to bed for some more shut eye then I'll check out more later.  Remember when speaking to newbies you don't want to be using really big words.  There were a couple that threw me.  Recheck for spelling errors and double words such as:  on on etc.  I'll look over more later.  That looked like a HUGE undertaking writing all this out!

I think this would be fantastic as is!  It is more detailed than I imagined and it shows you know more than I do!  LOL  Like I said, I only know the very basics.  You know more than just the basics.  Then I just fill in the rest that I need.

This is what I know:
<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN">
<html>
<head>
<title></title>
<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1">
</head>
<body bgcolor="#000000" alink="#000000" vlink="#000000" text="#FFFFFF">

<table width="100%" border=0 cellpadding=0 cellspacing=0 align=center>
<tr><td></td></tr>
</table>
</body>
</html>

There are certain things I do want to tighten up--like condense three chapters dealing with how markup works, the first webpage, and attributes into one single chapter.  Most of the rest, though, I might leave as is.  And I think I'll say "I'm teaching HTML 4.01 because that's what I know" in the prologue.

In the Introduction, I'll actually address my usage of older markup languages, and why I prefer them. :)

Hi All,

This is the first time I have visited the Furtopia forum in quite a while. I think its awesome that you are bringing it back to its former glory WS.
These days most of my internet time is spent on facebook and youtube. Its hard to remember what internet was like before then...or what I did on it.

Hopefully I will clean up all of my links in firefox so I remember to come here more often!

I tried using the web-based chat room, but it showed this error message:

Forbidden

You don't have permission to access this resource.
Apache/2.4.38 (Debian) Server at client-irc.furtopia.org Port 443

Anyways, I look forward to watching this forum grow!

It would be nice if the forums were up to it's glory days.  Let's hope.  I read your message to Whiteshepherd and he thinks he fixed that link.  He said he'll check it out.

edit: I just logged into the furtopia IRC and was able to get in but no one is there.

Hi Kada,

Nice hearing from you.
I tried clicking on the link to the chatroom, but it still came up with that same error.
Do I need to do anything in my browser (eg delete cookies or history) to get the link to work?

I have no idea.  WS will have to answer that. You can try deleting cookies/history but that is up to you.  I'm sorry you are having problems with this.  I will let WS know tomorrow that you are still having problems.  Are you putting in the correct nick and password?

I checked again and I can still get in.  I'm attaching a screenshot. I was going to add a screenshot but forgot how.  LOL  It's been so long since I've checked in here.  Let me do something else.  Here you go:

Hi Kada,
I just noticed something while looking at your screenshot:
To the left of your URL bar, you have a little padlock icon. My padlock icon has a cross through it and says: Connection Not Secure.
I am wondering if this could be causing the issue?

I don't know if it would help, but if WhiteShep wanted to remote access my pc to try and find out what the problem is, we could organise a time.

I didn't notice. LOL
I'll let WS know.  He should be coming up in a bit for movie night and I'll let him know about your message.  I have been telling him everything you tell me.

I went and relooked at the screenshot I posted for you and yes, I do see the crossed out lock.  My site isn't secure because it doesn't need to be since I don't take any personal info or monies from anyone.  It is just a personal website.

So, is the crossed out lock on the page when you try to access the chatroom?

Secure sites start with the https://  (s).

I'll give that info to WS as well.
