I think I'm one of the few. I can never get really comfortable when there's someone else sleeping in the same room as me. After about a week of it I can't even stand it anymore, I just can't fall asleep at all if there's someone too close.

Odd!

Although I always go off into a fantasy world whenever I'm trying to sleep. I just relax and imagine whatever comes to my head and play around with whatever is happening. After a while, usually a pretty short time, I forget where I am in real life. (:

I love having someone in bed with me, naturally only a person I trust vehemently. I'm not, by any means, a very physical person towards strangers, but when it's folks I know and trust then I don't mind being touched. And I fall asleep so easily from a back rub. :) A friend of mine who used to sleep over when I was a kid called me a dog because all he had to do to make me fall asleep was rub my back. :goldthpt: I really don't enjoy sleeping alone. :( I havn't had anyone rub my back in years. :'(

Me too! That's something I occasionally look forward to before I go to bed. Just trying to slip away into another world before I fall asleep (and proceed to have weird, purposeless dreams). The issue with having other people around is:

Same here. I hate sleeping near other people. They make noise. >:(

Yeah, hate that. Any other noise that's happening (loud talking outside, car going by dishwasher or air conditioner running, etc.) I can sleep right through. But people's noises while they sleep not only keeps me awake, but I can't even concentrate on my thoughts with them.

Especially snoring. If someone starts snoring I basically need to leave the room. It's the most aggravating noise I can think of (I'm not mad at them for doing it, since it's not their fault (I'm pretty sure I snore). I just completely hate the sound).

Sleeping alone is a requirement for me... The closer someone is to me the more uncomfortable it is. There's the noise that's annoying, and there is the (if they are close enough) the smell.  However there also seems to be just a... repulsion and trust issue. When i'm asleep i'm in my own perfect little world, having someone close just seems like they can ruin that perfect little world.

That and I love having my own dark room away from everyone.

I usually sleep on my stomach and tilted slightly to the side with one of my arms holding my pillow under me.  The only thing curled up would be my legs, I don't know why but I've always been paranoid about spiders in my bed.  I'm afraid of these big black spiders crawling through my sheets and biting my feet so I curl them as close to me as possible, just in case I have company.

The other day I slept on a very small pile of pennies and nickels that I've had in a ziploc bag in my sock drawer for the past 11 years for no reason  :o

I know my parents have this huge plastic bottle filled with all sorts of coins hidden somewhere.  If they ever decide to leave town for a few days I'm gonna find that bottle, dump it out on my bed in my makeshift lair downstairs and see how that works out.  I might also go find some jewelry and necklaces and stuff and put those in my secret treasure-hoard as well.   ;)

When I sleep I take my larger pillows and cover them in a blanket making a sort of cave to sleep in, like a fox's den. It's really cozy and I feel safer in it for some reason.

Do any of you do similar things?

lol i do the same thing! I have like 10 pillows. it is really cozy and I have to agree with you, i feel safer for some reason.

When I'm not sleeping in a bed like a drunken dog, I bury my face in the crevasses of my arm.  I always awaken with a giant red sun between my eyebrows and skin marks that look like cool scars.

I'm really ambivalent about sleeping alone.  I hate when there's an unconscious body in the same room as me (exactly like Relaxing Dragon), and I generally dislike physical contact, but the thought of sleeping next to someone I really trust give rise to a good feeling inside.  I hug a pillow to simulate this, but I have no idea how it would be to with an actual person.

I shy away from hugs from my family, but strangely not from my friends (even the ones I'm not that close to).  I feel dissonant.  Or hypocritical.

Same,  absolutely NO family member is allowed to touch me. I'm a little picky when it comes to strangers, but if I trust you I'll accept hugs. :)

Strangely enough, if I'm in a good and happy mood one of the best ways to earn my trust is with a hug. :D

Contrastingly I need a lot of pillows to simulate that I'm NOT alone. Can't wait to sleep beside my mate again.

I am also a hypocrite, I will lavish my hugs on my mate but not really on anyone else. Drives me friends and family crazy.

My girl and I generally tend to fall asleep all cuddle up...but by the time we wake up, we're on completely different sides of the bed. I usually end up on my stomach or curled up on my side.

*sigh* I WISH I could actually sleep in a ball. It's just too uncomfortable. I end up sleeping on my back or my stomach- for some reason I can't sleep on my side anymore. DX
I can't sleep with my ears or tail, though, because the headband on my ears will break or my tail will get caught under me and come off- and since it's on a safety pin, that would be painful. >.<

Well, my husky likes to take up more than half the bed. I get the top half (more like 1/3) and she gets the rest. She usually sleeps behind my knees. She used to sleep up at the pillows with me, in which case she shoved me up against the wall to where I couldn't move. For some reason, I was able to sleep a lot better when she did that. Now, she won't sleep up at the pillows with me, so I wake up a couple times during the night. Usually I end up sleeping with my legs straight out, laying diagonally on the bed.

Pillows! I did that when I was 7, I would sleep right next to the AC so it will really cold and I would make like a fort and pretend I was in a cave trying to sleep in winter. (Husky dog :P) Now, I tend to sleep on my side curled up or on my back (which is bad for me so says the doc) or on my stamach with a pillow over my head (and pushing my arms down to my bum) which is really warm and nice!

Odd!

I always go off into a fantasy world whenever I'm trying to sleep. I just relax and imagine whatever comes to my head and play around with whatever is happening. After a while, usually a pretty short time, I forget where I am in real life. (:

I do that every night since 4 months ago, it screwed up my sleeping patterns. ;) I make cosy pillow forts during winter if I can steal find enough pillows. My bed is against the wall, the very-cold-during-winter wall. I used it as part of my pillow fort until I rolled into it one night, jumped back into a pillow wall and got buried. :P

I usually sleep alone, last time I slept with someone else in the same room I didn't actually sleep. The snoring was enough to piece through my usual slumber. I do emulate a trusted companion with another pillow, the middle has got no fluff in it now. I am sleeping with my collar on now that I have one. My father walked in on me putting it on my first night (2 nights ago), he told me to take it off and walked out of the room. Hasn't brought it up yet though, I hope he forgets.
