Ok pull up a seat next to the fire cubs. Got a little update and back story for you all. First Kada-Ru who has been sick for months seems to be getting a bit better. So I think she is going to start joining me on making updates again. Though you haven't seen it I have been making progress as it's been a lot of work. Part of the time factor is I had to redo a LOT of the coding from scratch. When Furtopia hosting shut down I backed it up onto two seagate external hard drives. When I decided to reopen I had planned to restore the backups and make some updates. Over the course of 10 years sitting in storage BOTH hard drives had failed!! Coding I had made over the course of 10 years was just gone forever.
I was tempted to stop there. But having coded it once I knew I could do it again. Just it would take a LOT of work to get the various multi-user server services programmed again. Kada-Ru had a few of the old html files on a 2009 CD and that helped me create a template. So as I put a couple hours into this each day into repair/programming I get a funny sense of nostalgia. I feel like a furry version of the kids from Narnia stories. With love from all the furies in the community we built a Furtopia kingdom that was a sight to behold. After a decade of watching the kingdom thrive I retired and went back through the closet to rest and grow. When I came back I noticed much was not working or in disrepair. But in the shadows loyal Furs had kept the fires going of the old kingdom still going the best they could to help new fur commers. Well the "coding" fires are being lit and this steam engine though looking old now is going to race like never before. Don't let current looks fool you. A lot of work is happening under the hood.
I am currently working on a new IRC web client for easy access to our IRC. Should be up in a day or so. I also have been working on the beta Furtopia indexer. The old Furtopia indexer used to gallery your pictures in any folder you did not have a webpage. So if an artist did not know how to make a web page they could use our nice looking Indexer gallery. The new gallery I am doing also galleries music and movies. This lets your Furtopia account stream your mp4's to your visitors and you can even like existing Youtube movies you own into your Furtopia indexer gallery.
Here is a little sneak peak of the new beta Furtopia Indexer. The links are broken as this is just a beta we are stress testing right now. More will be added to it.
