@Redyoshi: that's an interesting idea. Though one concern immediately came to my mind, which you've mentioned in the cons.
  • This system is very susceptible to tyranny by the majority.
That's a fairly major con. That would definitely need to addressed for this system to be viable.

That's the defining characteristic of a democracy.

I knew it was outside the scope of the thread, as the thread was being discussed so far. I brought it up because I think that it SHOULDN'T be outside the scope of the thread.

If you think that it should be a part of this thread, then, realistically speaking, how would you implement it (taking into account current human society, etc...)?  This is a thread for discussing human society/governing/etc...

If you want to go into more detail about the finished society itself, post in this thread: http://forums.furtopia.org/index.php?topic=45488.0

As I said, I personally wasn't going to be solving all this world's problems for you all, not on the first pass anyways.

But fair enough, if you'd like to limit the discussion to just that, that's your prerogative.

Spoken as though you could but choose not to. *rolls eyes*

Anyways, you haven't suggested anything that gets away from the need for a governing structure. Transhumanism doesn't do that, unless what you mean by "social singularity" is that people will no longer be autonomous, no longer able to make decisions for themselves. And that sounds like a horrible future to push for. I have no interest in joining the borg.
