strangest place you've ever slept
« on: June 10, 2012, 06:46:19 am »
where have you slept that was really strange or queer?
i'll go first.

last night i left a friends place at 3am. it was frosty and with THICK fog. riding the motorbike in these conditions was beyond dangerous and i didnt want to disturb anyone looking for a bed.
SOOOO. i pulled over, warmed my hands on the engine, lay down on the frozen grass in my motorbike gear and slept.
woke the next morning and i was part of the scenery, helmet visor was frozen closed and had thick sheet ice on it. my pants and jacket were all locked up with ice too.

temperature was -10c that morning, about -20 with the wind chill while riding the bike, even i cannot tollerate that without special clothing. hence i pulled over and slept on the windless night in the -10 temp  :o

the cows did their usual thing and wandered over to the fence, i could hear them breathing and sofly mooing to each other before i fell asleep, probably planning on how to exact revenge on the human race, starting with me hahahahahaha.

Hrm... lying on a concrete pipe, or up a tree, or on the island in the middle of a road. I can't decide which is less usual really.
-I still can't think of anything.

Occasionally I'll sleep out in my shed. I guess that qualifies as weird.

I'm know for randomly falling asleep. (I don't have a medical condition I'm just sleep starved) So anyway I was called up to the teachers desk for results on a Modern Studies exam. I fell asleep walking to the desk so I was spaced out in the middle of the floor. Pretty weird if you ask me

This is easy.  The boston airport.  We had flown in from Kansas city after a laover and had to switch carriers because the flight we were suposed to switch to was cancled.  When we got to boston the flight to portland was not until the next morning and no cars were available to rent nor hotell rooms available due to some con.  Probably a furry con. :)  Anyways, my co worker and i were forced to sleep in the lobby of the air port. We had to sleep on the floor because all the benches were taken.  The next morning i woke up first and went to one of the rest rooms to freshen up.  My co worker was rousted by airport security.

It was fun to do once but never again.

lol. I've slept in airports so many times it didn't even occur to me as unusual. Though, it's international terminals and there's usually a few people sleeping.

Sleeping in class is too easy; I accomplish that nearly every day.

Where else have I slept..  I fell asleep in the hallway of a school once too.

I would say sleeping in class, but I do that every time during a free period. Weirdest place inside the house: Upside down on the couch or on the stairs. Weirdest place outside the house: Propped up against a field goal post at my high school. And to this day, I have no idea what made me so tired to sleep up against a field goal post. :D

I have curled up in the closet a time or 2. It's not that big, but it is above the hot water heater, heat plant so it's warm. One really neat strange place was on a large black granite rock in the bottom of the Grand Canyon.

On a coach buses coming home from my class trip to DC last night. On a school bus. A deep sea fishing boat. When I was a pup I would sleep in a cabinet after I removed all the plastic dishes from it.

While marching in formation.

On the deck of a ship, in the rain, at night, while it was 40 F and only wearing thin clothing and a flotation vest.

Various random obscure void spaces inside a ship.

In a sleeping bag, wearing soaking wet and muddy clothes, in 30 degree F temperatures and with only a single layer of plywood on each side protecting me from the thunderstorm. Good times.

In the home & garden section of a Walmart.

At overnight camp, the place we were staying started to flood. We looked at hotels we could stay at, but all of them were booked for a renaissance fair. So..Walmart it was.

I took an English class in college that focused on Dickens and Hardy.  At the end of the semester, the whole class went to England to look at the places where the books were written and took place.  I did not handle the jet lag well.  So, during the walking tour that we took of London on the first day, every time we stopped so that the tour guide could tell us about where we were, I would fall asleep, standing up, leaning against random buildings.

Probably between the vertical stabilizers on the tail of a running F/A-18. Sometimes it takes a few hours to burn off enough fuel to jack the aircraft, or trouble shoot a problem, or wait for quality assurance to come by. So when you've been pulling 16+ hour shifts for a couple weeks straight it's not hard to lay down on those nice, warm engines and have a snooze.

It's either that or in a racquet ball court -although my whole unit was shacked up in there. It was very cozy.
