It has now been 60 years since the release of one of Britain's best-loved railway films,
The Titfield Thunderbolt. For the benefit of those who
haven't seen the film, it's a Technicolor comedy film produced by Ealing Studios in 1952 (there are no prizes for guessing that, though!). The film itself is based around a group of villagers whose railway is threatened with closure and so they decide to run it themselves. As a bonus, here are some excerpts from the film. Enjoy!:
