This episode was just fair.
Making a usually competent Spike clumsy for the sake of the story didn't work IMHO.
If he was that bad all the time, the library would be a mess.
I actually didn't think it was all that inaccurate. He's always actually been pretty clumsy anyhow. That library has become a total mess because of him several times now. He even made a mess of things in the first couple minutes of the very first episode of FiM. Was the clumsiness exaggerated a bit this episode? Sure, but I didn't think it was that far of a stretch, really, and it was rather humorous.
But YES, ANOTHER AJ EPISODE!!! With the added bonus of a fairly Spike-centric story as well, which has also been pretty lacking. I actually felt like this was AJ's strongest episode by far. And that's both in terms of showing her as a character as well as just the quality of the episode itself.
I feel like this was another all-around strong episode. This season is really working out to be one of my favorites so far. So many good episodes. There also seemed to be a few good, subtle nods to the fans in this one, too. RD writing 'fanfics' about herself, and suggesting that AJ might write some, too. Spike and AJ's 'brohoof' at the end. Uhh... I know there were a couple more small things I noticed, but I can't remember them right now.
I also felt like they're trying something a bit different with the animation for the eyes lately. They seemed a bit more expressive in this episode, or at least they made more use of them. Anybody else notice this at all?
