Your Current Cell Phone
« on: February 20, 2013, 04:19:13 pm »
What kind of cell phone do you have currently?  Have you held out from the super phone craze?  I find it amazing that in a few short years, smartphones have totally changed the way we spend our time and consume information.  You look down the streets, and you see half the people doing the "smartphone shuffle," walking awkwardly forward while looking down at their phones (I am guilty x_x).

Galaxy SIII.
I like it so far, though I still can't bring myself to use it the way many people use their smartphones. You won't see me walking down the street with it out updating my Facebook status so all my friends know exactly where I am at any given time. If I have it out while walking down the street, then I'm probably lost and using the map feature.

Work is paying for my current phone so I use the only internet capable phone they allow.  Iphone 4s.

My current phone is an LG enV Touch.  It's basically one of the most smartphone-like cellphones that's not a smartphone.

It has a web browser.  Yay for phones with web browsers!

(*edit*) My phone's an LG enV Touch, not an LG Touch.  (*minor facepalm*)

Typically whatever model is cheapest locally when I need a phone. Nothing current, but the last was a Samsung of some kind and I think by sheer coincidence the previous lot were entirely Nokia. Hard to judge based on the different times they were from but I think I preferred the Nokia ones (though I type this from a surprisingly long-lived Samsung netbook - perhaps they make better cheap computers than cheap phones).

I've 'held out' in the sense that I don't have any reason to own anything better, but I'd probably get one if I'd use it. I have a very short attention span though, and going out I instantly lose the desire to check if someone might've signed in to skype or emailed me (et cetera).
-I still can't think of anything.

Can agree with that, (I phone4) only ever use it as a phone and music player :D  ok, and maybe the Internet if I need it, but do most browsing and photos with tablet lol.
I don't understand all the " hype " people put into smartphones though.

The LG Ally. It's almost 4 years old, but still works great. It just keeps running out of storage space so it hasn't really been able to update too much...

I had a Droid 4, but the software went up after about 4 months and I kinda destroyed it in a fit of frustration... And I didn't have insurance on it.... This is exactly why I keep my old phones as spares, even though that was the only phone I ever broke.

Samsung Galaxy Gio. By default, running Android 2.3.3 I believe. A terribly slow device, a hell to use. That is, until I flashed it. It is now happily running CyanogenMod 10.1, based on Android 4.2.2. A device which I completely love. I don't even have a reason to switch, even though my dad will probably get a new phone soon and, seeing how he hates smartphones, that will probably end up being my next phone.

Got two Motorola Photon off ebay for $100 each (a $450 phone) and got http://ting.com phone service.  Coverage is amazing (Sprint+Verizon) and phone bill averages >$40 month for 2 phones with tale/text/internet.

Saved me so much money over T-mobile and coverage is MUCH better.

I was only saying because it's a pit of a pet peeve when people say somethings good spec wise just because it looks pretty. I don't know the models so I can't really do that sorry v.v
