Ponchatoula, Louisiana
It's a small to medium city about equally distant from Baton Rouge and New Orleans. To the South there is nothing but swamp. Well, unless you count the redneck village of Manchac; the kind of place you can buy fresh coon and turtle and so forth from some guy who never owned a pair of shoes until he was a teenager. South of that is Lake Ponchatrain (the big lake in Louisiana you can see on satellite images and national maps) and South of that is New Orleans. To the North is a college city called Hammond. Hammond is bigger than Ponchatoula, but nothing compared to a big city like New Orleans.
You get a really odd blend of country, city, and suburban people here.
