Military specialty.

If you either volunteered to join a military service or you were drafted, what occupation would you hope to be doing in the military? Granted, what you want to do and what you get are two different things. Sometimes, the military grants you your wishes/requests. Other times, it may train you in an occupation that it has a shortfall in and needs more people in a specified field.

I'd probably choose either infantry or become a pilot (probably fly for the U.S Army, fly attack helicopters like the AH-64). Join the Marine Corp for infantry.

I was a mechanic. I'd enjoy being a mechanic again. Not glamorous, but try being a pilot without them ;-)

Not that I'd turn down a pilot position. Oh no.

Due to vision I wasn't eligible for service. But if I had been and had good
eyesight. I would have tried to be a pilot. I did become a private pilot a few
years later with the help of a waver.  Otherwise I would have persued
electronics and computers. Something I liked since childhood. Even though
computers filled large rooms  in those days.

I remember one estimate in the 1950's was that a computer that could mimic
the human brain would fill the  Empire state building and take Niagara falls to
cool it.

I serve as a Radar Technician in the US Navy. AN/SPS-48C Air Search Radar system.

I served for 9 years in the US Army. 6 Years Reservist, 3 active, one deployment. I was a 91W, Health Care Specialist. My job was to stabilize people as they came into the emergency room. Blood draws, catheters, pulse, respiratory rate,  cpillary refill time, stopping the bleeding, getting information to give to the doctor.

i'd chose what ever would keep me away from the front line due to not wanting to be shot at.

while i dont have any actual experience, i have somewhat of an idea of what to do with injured people, so maybe some type of medic that stays back at base.

other than that maybe an engineer/mechanic to take care of the vehicles while at base. another job where i will not be getting shot at, and my hands are kinda small so might be easier to work on stuff, in the small spaces.

My mission specialty was/is Public Affairs. I call it "breaking cameras with my face" as it was my job to represent the organization--and my local unit--to the public and it was me that the locals got to see on the local evening news. I was also interviewed by local radio stations. I wrote news stories for the local newspapers too. I even had stuff published in the organization's monthly newspaper when the better units could only twiddle their thumbs--I was that good. Took the Information Specialist Correspondence Course offered from Gunter AFS, AL. Earned numerous honors and awards--including two challenge coins for creating my fursuit character and using him in local events.
 
I also have comm experience and train CAP cadets in model rocketry.

I know, I know.  I have a friend who has been in for several years - he tells me I need to stop waiting around and just do it. He's right: I keep wondering whether it's best for me to get to it now, or to hang around for my parents & younger brother - but there's always going to be things that I could do with/for them. But that hesitation is what's holding me back. In the meantime I've acquired an ASVAB study guide, and I'm starting to work out more frequently at least. I think I need to get my weight up by at least another 10-15 lbs too.

If I had to do a military job I would probably do one involving computers in the air force or become a pilot.

Hmm artillery and being a sniper mainly because I want to stay way way out of the actual battle while providing support from a far unfortunately I believe me wearing glasses would hinder any chances.

I'm going to be trying to sign up with the Canadian Reserves in the next year. I think I'm a bit old for infantry sadly, but I've been told I'd be a shoe in for Artillery, Armoured or Combat Engineer. Hell
Combat Engineer isn't far off from some of the stuff I do now.
