The Rule of the Coyote Queen
« on: July 31, 2005, 03:51:22 am »
The rhythm is pretty together, it goes A,A,B (repeat). This will hopefully be for the Furtopian Song Contest, which would rock. The music will be an Irish beat, but I doubt I'll be able to write out the sheetwork in time, and also have a fiddler play the tune. I think I'll just have to improvise, and/or make my own background music. Sigh, Such is life.

This is a slightly humorous, slightly serious piece. Enjoy!

“The Rule of the Coyote Queen”
By Shawn Frazer (Artem Rose)

Well in a time long ago, in a land far from ours
Creatures reigned over kingdoms untold
There were otters with egos, Young vixens with flowers,
But now let this story unfold….

Sitting high on her throne, the coyote queen rules
O’er her kingdom as far as she sees
Fennecs tend to her grooming, mice see to her hair
Nervous suitors both plot and prepare

Oh, one cunning wolf, he thinks himself wize,
He laughs to himself, a sly look in his eyes
“Oh dally, oh daie, I’ll be king in a day,
and I’ll rule o’er all the land!”

When the suitors had gone, the wolf came along
Confronting the Coyote Queen
She was much taken, by his gifts of fresh bacon
And the wedding was planned on the day

After wedding that eve, a honeymoon by the sea
In a bed of the finest silk
Wearing robes of the finest cloth of the land
The wolf sprawled lewdly in bed

Oh, that sneaky wolf, he thinks himself cunning,
He thinks to himself, his hormones high running
“Oh dally, oh daie, I am king today,
and I’ll rule o’er all the land!”

The Coyote Queen said, with a tear in her eye
“Not tonight, my head hurts like hell.
But tomorrow, I promise, a lunch by the sea”
She winked, saying “Not just for tea.”

They left for the cliffs of the sea, hand in hand
The merriest of couples, those two!
After they had their luncheon, they did things I can’t mention
Before snuggling close in the grass

Oh, that tricky wolf, he thinks himself wise,
He thinks to himself, of his wife soon demised
“Oh dally, oh daie, I am king today,
and I’ll alone rule all the land!”

They walked to the edge, they looked down at the sea
Where was two, is only now one
The lone figure laughed, as the screams died away
And off walked the Coyote Queen

“My love, my love” she said with such glee
“Did you think all I wanted was tea?”
She walked from the cliffs, where her husband lay slain
The Coyote Queen rules once again.

Oh that Coyote Queen, she was wiser than he
She smiles to herself, as she sits on her seat
“Oh dally, oh daie, I am Queen today,
and I’ll alone rule all the land!”
