Heya!
Does anyone want to collaborate on a furry song?
I've always wanted to try writing one but I'm kinda bad at lyrics.

Thanks,
Ian

What exactly is a Furrie song? Just a song made by Furries or something? And...arent lyrics the entire part of a song? That would mean that you are pretty much asking for a Furrie to give you a song if I am not mistaken by your post.

If not please explain.

Instrumentation and melody is more than 50% of the song.
Otherwise, it's just a POEM.

Besides, he said "collaborate" not "donate".

And I think some friends and I are starting a fursuit band called "Those Weird Sex People"...

Some times it is just created by a fur. Other times it contains animals. Animal habits. Feelings of being a fur etc.

( blinks at Katty's name for a band) You sure you want to call a band that title?

Haha yeah.  =^_^=
See, the mundanes already think we're "Weird Sex People"..
When they find out we don't yiff on stage or adhere to the stereotypes, this might actually make way for some education.

But yeah.. thank Ostrich for that name.   '<img'>

Sounds like fun.
If I lived in the area I'd definately want to join.
I most ceartainly want to be able to play guitar and sing while in fur-suit.
I havn't figured out how to make my paws guitar friendly yet, though.

Hmmmm, I suck at lyrics.
Either they come out too literal or waay too cheesy.

I guess I just gotta get the poetic section of my mind up and running (now why cant I write lyrics like Maynard James Keenan?).

All it taks is practice...it takes a lot of trial and error.  I find you gotta really dig into your heart and soul to get out what you want to say, and its there where you'll find a lot of stuff hidden away waiting to be released.  It always feels good to get stuff off your chest.

Rock on, people!   ''

I wrote a song a while ago.  Just the lyrics though.  It's going to be a techno/rock/industrial mixture sort of like The Crystal Method or Prodigy.

Feral
Lyrics by Austin Mellbourne

Every time I begin to feel that burn,
The same burn I feel every day,
I realise how horrible it must be
To be me

Like a lit fuse, I see it coming,
Waiting for it to ignite.
Every inch of my body starts to itch
And I feel myself weaken.

Don’t talk to me, Don’t look at me
I put my hands on my face just to hide from their eyes
It’s like I’m stuck on the tracks, and the train is coming slowly
If only you knew me maybe you could control me.
And suddenly, it comes to me,
I can’t let them tear a hole in my soul
At the end of the run, I cant breathe from the pain
My body weakens at the sight of everyone.

Out of the darkness, beside me
Out comes a demon, and now it lives in me
I feel the burning desire
No one can stop me, I put my foot down.
It’s time to show you, how easy
Someone can hurt you, by knowing who you are
I don’t believe in no heaven
So what’s the use of letting someone kill me

You think you know who I am
By the name they call me?
It’s pathetic how you laugh
At how pathetic I am
There’s just one thing that you’ve surpassed
You just cant see into my eyes
And as I start to bear my teeth
Clawing myself to sleep
Just like any other dream
My vision’s hazy, blood is cold
I have to try to remember
What the future will bring me

It doesn't have any direct influence of furryness, but they way you sing it sorta gives it away that it is furry.  I might change the lyrics a little to make it more furry, but for now that's all I have. If any of you can think of some tunes or melodies or anything to this song, go ahead.  I don't plan to use this in any particular band since it will be kinda techno-ish.  Hope that helps a little.  Just don't use it without my consent or anything, otherwise I'm cool with whatever you do with it.

Umm... this'll just be off the top of my head.
 ''

It will start off lookin around
Figuring out who (what) I am
playin culture to be found
jus' lookin for a big plan
better not end up in the POUND

Suddenly its art fills my walls
To find out what this is, it's me
though life rises and life falls
It's furry I will always be

(Chorus)
Furry always furry forever
Furry on my mind whenever
Furry fandom members shout
Cause that's what it's all about

That's just the start but i'll try to improve on it I mean if y'all (you guys) furs want it.

Just remember the melody for this song is kinda happy I would suggest key of A

Here's my little statement on keys in song writing
G = Most happiest chilren's songs (corny)
A = a feel of happieness (enlightenment)
B = A feel good rock theme (Kinda like Stand by REM)
C = Perfect balance between morbid and corny (life)
D = Metal or blues rock theme
E = Very blue feel of loss
F = Down right depressing

I've actually written lyrics a fur performed live -- no less than Chama C. Fox, in fact!  Sadly he hasn't yet rendered a final recording of it, but if anyone happened to attend Furry Music Cafe and heard "A Dream Untrue," that be it. '<img'>  He accidentally mis-attributed the lyrics to Calydor because of the complicated way they came about ... Calydor wrote a novel (he is currently trying to get it published) and in this novel he had a placeholder in where he intended to write an original song.  He forgot, however, and did not realize this until he'd written a complete draft of the novel and was going back through it to edit it and stumbled upon the placeholder.

I happened to be chatting with him at the time, and I opened up a text editor and in 15-20 minutes I came up with some lyrics he loved.

He and I are both fond of the Furry Music Foundation (FMF) and I kept thinking to myself ... gah, if someone like Chama could make music for this, that would rock.  I dismissed such thoughts as silliness though, I know Chama is popular and I was certain he had more than enough requests to do 'free commissions' and neither Calydor nor I had any money to offer him to do one.  I consider begging-free-commission fanboys to be irritants, and I certainly didn't want to become that ..... but then I noticed Chama left an open invitation to write a song for someone in his FMF profile.  What could it hurt?  I sent it in .... and much to my shock, just a few weeks later he e-mailed me a "rough recording" which was drop-dead gorgeous!

I cherish it very much ..... but he has asked that it not be redistributed, so sadly I cannot.  EFXers who attended the FMC got to hear a 'live' version that I guess he did purely with guitar; the recording he did was a piano/guitar duet.  Yes, its a *real* guitar and *real* piano which was another shock to me -- as good as his synthetic instruments are, does he ever have heart to play!

I hate to go on (okay, actually I go on a lot about myself ;p) without having the meat of it available -- the beautiful recording Chama did -- but I can, of course, republish the lyrics if anyone is interested.  Since this thread is asking for folk to write lyrics, though, I shan't spam it with that (I'll just spam it with my rambling banter ;p).

I'd be happy to try my paw at writing lyrics for others.  Chama did have to do a little editing on my lyrics as I sent them to him to fit better, so I don't pretend they're perfect .... but give me a subject you'd like lyrics for and I'll give it a whack. '<img'>

(The one I did for Calydor that Chama C. Fox wrote music for had the subject of "Unicorn Romance" ... a unicorn stallion wistfully longing for a unicorn mare ...)
