I love meat, and everything that's indirectly made of meat, including donuts, Jell-O, and certain beverages. *drools*

Ermines are technically carnivores (though my fursona himself will eat almost anything so long as it is edible).  I, on the other hand, do eat meat but have cut down on my intake over the course of the past few years as part of a diet my mother originally started me on (though her reasons for doing it were all related to bariatric surgery she went through back at the November).  I've only stuck with it because it does help keep some of the weight off (I mostly eat just chicken and turkey now, and beef is a rare treat).

Good for you
I could never do that on a summer day my two favourite things are a pool and BBQ

Yes, because I'm furry.  :D

I'm insanely picky about food; yet my wolfy side shames me into eating tough, low-quality meat I otherwise wouldn't touch.

YES. I couldn't imagine living without being able to eat meat, more specifically red meat. I don't know what it is, but being able to eat a big, rare steak just makes my day. I hate it when people overcook my meat.

The one type of meat that I specifically refuse to eat is octopus.  At about the age of fourteen, researching and reading about octopi became my favorite pastime.  I took to kneeling down and saluting the poor dead baby octopi in the fresh fish section of the supermarket every time my mom took me there.  (Yes, I was a strange child.)  My stand on this issue has only come up a few times -- generally at fancy restaurants or sushi places.  But, it's a principle I've adhered to for a decade and a half, and I have no intention of giving it up.  I suspect that I'd have similar feelings about cats and dogs if I were in a culture where they were eaten.

If you dont keep big heaping plates of meat byproducts out for me to eat, then I will go find my own.  So keep the can opener humming.

I like fish IRL, I will usually eat fish two or three times a week if I can afford it.
I also like burgers for some reason.

I eat meat because I am a human being, not because I'm a furry. :p

I’m not a big fan of eating meat, due to the way the animals are treated. :(

But it’s hard to get by sometimes, so I eat whatever I can find or afforded, even if what I’m eating is, or has meat.

In other words, I’m simply an omnivore.

I eat meat, because I enjoy it and am human.
The same goes for veggies and fruit. Lots of those.

While I'm at university, I switch to a mostly vegetarian diet, because I can't always afford meat, and it is harder to get cooking veggies wrong. However, I do love meat ^^ All types. My favorite is squid. I usually get it when I treat myself to a Chinese.

The way I look at it, there are animals that eat other animals. It doesn't make too much sense to me when people go vegan to "help save the animals" when animals themselves can eat meat. It's just part of nature. Of course, we all have our own convictions and can all live how we choose :)

Oof... first full blown vegetarian to post in this, I think.  6 1/2 years, far before I even knew what furry was.  I won't get into the reasoning or debates here, but you'd be surprised that the question "Is eating meat really a 'human' thing?" has a fair amount of validity.  Culturally yes, but scientifically maybe not.  Again, not for here.  ^^;

Of coarse we did originate from vegetarian. It is also possible that man started to grow crop before it herded animals. (History Channel) Of coarse saying this, I also have to say that humans have not been drinking milk for more than 20,000 years. Man kind hasn't been using cell phones for over 50 years. Homo sapiens have been eating meat for around 2 million years.

Saying that, I must also include that several researches have lead to believe that vegetarians usually live longer life than omnivorous, let alone carnivorous. Saying that, I must include that meat has huge amounts of protein that are more natural then fabricated foods. Meat hold several calories that are necessary for athletes, constructionists, engineers, soldiers, fighters, and any other hard working person to effectively live.

In the end, I respect vedges for being able to do that I cannot... or not do what I cannot stop myself from doing. I know several vedges and they are very high self-a-steam people. They don't really do much eccersise but they are very strong willed. Let us coexist.

I might be the second vegetarian posting on this thread--another arctic fox! Maybe there's something different about us icy folk... But in all technicality, I'm not a true vegetarian, rather a recent convert. Just a few weeks ago, I was a die-hard carnivore. When it finally dawned on me how animals are treated on farms, I could no longer justify such a diet. My reasoning is that carnivorous animals eat meat to balance the food chain in nature. However, because we humans have the ability to adjust ourselves to our surroundings, I didn't see why I couldn't do so to prevent some suffering.

Unfortunately, before I decided to go vegetarian, I bought an entire freezer-full of steaks... Native Americans and the ancient Japanese believed that when it was necessary to kill an animal for food, the animal must be respected by using every part of it. That is something else I live by, and letting all that go to waste would weigh even more heavily on my conscience; so I've been gradually tapering off my meat intake. But since I've recently become fond of vegetables, I've found I really don't look forward to eating meat anymore.

This doesn't mean I'm giving up my milk and cheese, though! You don't have to harm the cow to get milk from it... and I discovered I have a knack for making veggie pizzas! ;)

S'not true of me, at the very least.  Look up vegetarian body builders, we're perfectly capable of getting all the amino acids and proteins we need without consuming meat.  ^^

And agreed, Sunny.  I'm not a vegan, I love my cheese far too much (I drink almond based milk, though).  We should have a private talk about this sometime!

I'm a wolf furry, but I definitely don't have any reservations about eating meat. In fact, I loooooove it  :) Hate to use silverware to eat it though; when I eat meat, I love to just rip into it and tear it apart with my teeth! Of course, I like veggies too, but...not as fun to eat as meat >.<

Meat is tasty, much better than dog food(or vegetables). :goldglee:

I live by a qoute I saw in a steak resturant one time:
"Vegetables are not food. Vegetables are what food eats."  :goldlaugh:

I eat meat because I love the way it tastes.  I also like the taste of fruit, though I'm not a huge fan of many vegetables.  Due to the way food animals are normally treated, though, I do try to eat organic, free-range, or wild game meats whenever possible.

Don't make me start singing my ode to meat. :D I have a very light case of iron deficiency in my blood, so the perfect meal for me is Blue steak and a spinach salad. Delicious! With Iron!
