I should be doing animation like that, dammit. '<img'>

EDIT: Oh, uh... The act at the end and the guy that just belts out "MY butt IS HUNGRY!!!" are... Well, that might be pushing the PG-13 line just a little further than you usually should. ''

LMTO.

As I under stand it, the site's made by an ex-Disney animator and, well I think he is a furry fan, though he likes to take the piss out of the whole thing anyway. I mean lets face it, it ain't hard. 40 year old fat guys playing preteen bunny fems and the like. And don't say we ain't got em.

Hey at least it's funny, and in good humour.

Not like some of the other true hate-merchants around.

I fail to see the humor in this.  No, it has nothing to do with whether I'm offended or not -- it's just that there are better ways to make fun of the fandom.

*nod-nods*  Yeah, you can only do the fish-in-the-butt-crack joke so many times before it gets stale.

But on the flip side, I will admit that I can't watch Happy Wabbit or Spooky Movie without bursting out in hysterics at one time or another.  He's a great animator, just moreso when he's not poking fun of furry fans (because yes, we've all seen the fat guy with the bunny ears, but how long can he remain ammusing?).

Said rumors pertaining to Shawn Keller's former employment with the Disney corporation are only partially correct.  Based on findings at IMDb, it would appear that Shawn Keller is currently employed with Disney.  His resume includes The Great Mouse Detective, The Little Mermaid, Atlantis: The Lost Empire, and most recently, Home on the Range.

As for his status as a furry fan himself... That is subject to debate.  Since he is a veteran Disney animator, I could understand why he would want absolutely nothing to do with the Furry Fandom, but since he has chosen Ches Shire Cat as his avatar, it wouldn't be unfair to assume that Keller is a fur himself.

Given his general attitude, I would think that he would rather barbacue most of us alive... just a reeeal hostile vibe.

But, then again... it's understandable in limited cases. Having characters you helped bring to life abused in such ways by a few very bored individuals. Err...

The scary movie is really, really cute. At least it's one happy gem! Lookit what that mean farmer lady did to the monster!

I'm surprised no one's mentioned his most involved short, The Crimson Stain...

He captures a lot of the "furry stereotypes" in this cartoon, but the thing that I find funny is just how obviously exaggerated everything is.

I'm curious what others think.

It was pretty cool.

I liked the star wars spoofing, and for some reason, the Japanese drummers on the fat guy.

Actually, Shawn Keller is part of the furry fandom.

In a response to many attacks from furs who were insulted by his satirical comic and website, he wrote:

"This is not a malicious attack from an outsider, as some people have
suggested. Far from it. I've been around Furry Fandom since the early 80's
and have been working at Disney as an animator for about 22 years now.
I enjoy drawing sassy animal characters and even build and wear my
costumes at the conventions. You probably last saw me at Further
Confusion as Secret Squirrel, standing in the corner like a dope. I have
built a big, sexy girl rabbit doll that the entire animation industry
jokingly refers to as my "wife" So what better person to do a satirical
look at ourselves than one of our own who's been a furry far since most
of today's fans were in kindergarden (egad! I'm getting old! )
"

You can read it for yourself Here

Personally, I'm a huge fan of his Furry Fans website and would like to purchase his "Horrifying look at furries" comic as well.
Then again, I'm aware that not many people are too keen about satire and take it too seriously. '<img'>

I think what's important that's being expressed by Shawn Keller is

FURRY'S NEED A SENSE OF HUMOR!

We're grown people who dress in silly outfits and have some pretty outrageous fetishes, I think it's open to a little ridicule.

Take Trekkies for example, they have a sense of humor.  They can take the piss out of themselves.  I go to Trekkie conventions, and when I go the funniest movie these people LOVE is the film Trekkies, which takes an outrageous look at people who take the fandom seriously.  It's a life style, but they acknowledge they're silly and it's okay.  They like silly.

It's okay to be silly. ':p'

If I had to take being furry so ultra seriously like it's some damn religion and taking the piss out of it is like Shawn Keller does is committing herecy, then I don't want to do this anymore.

I want to be silly, I like silly, I am silly, but it doesn't mean I'm a clown without valid emotions or opinions.  It means you take life with a funny furry smile.  You let the little things roll off your back and set an example for the world that life can be a little different.  To hell with the tie, to hell with the button up shirts, to hell with uncomfortable shoes and pressed slacks.

Be cute.  Be furry.  Be silly.  It's healthier than medication.

If you can't laugh at yourself, you're too uptight!  '<img'> These were cute, and as far as I can see, not an 'attack' but a cute little poke. The animation is wonderful too!

*nod-nods*  Mm.  Something definitely has happened over the years thats made a lot of the fandom's members a lot more hostile to negative comment.  I think Trekkies can take ridicule because... Well, when the media got wind of the Trekkies, they called it just that: a cheesy lifestyle.  I can acknowledge that the furry fandom fits the same definition (and I'm sure a lot of others can as well), but unfortunately, when the media got wind of the Furries, it was "SexInFursuits-SexInFursuits-SEXINFURSUITS!!!!"

...which is certainly an element of the fandom, but definitely not a fair way to sum it up.  Therefore... Wait, I'm getting ahead of myself again... Umm...

Basically, I think a lot of furs are so used to hearing said statement of the fandom that they've become accustomed to reacting that way to any negative depiction and/or description of the fandom, even if it was done in good humor.  Likewise, a lot of furs might not have believed his explanation because there are a few anti-furry sites that do the same thing.

In other words, its not that furries don't have a sense of humor.  The problem is that Shawn Keller's pokes at the fandom are near identical to those provided by "legitimate news sources" (seriously, some people I know think $omAwf is legit) that were meant to be interpreted as truth.

I think that makes sense, but... Who knows, maybe I've just been away from the net for too long. ':p'
