The Borg in TNG lived in a type of Utopian society. All thought the same,
worked for the benefit, and advancement of the whole. No sadness or happiness.
for the individual, just existence.
There was another form of Utopia shown on TNG I can't remember
the name. But they controled their society by killing those who
broke the rules. No matter how small the crime. Probably would
keep the population from getting too high.
If nothing else.
Carl Marx felt a type of utopia could be created with communism.
The problem with a Utopia is it goes against human nature. I fear it
will always be so unless we are changed to be like the Borg.
We humans need rewards in life, to have control of our existence,
a better life for our descendants.
I wouldn't want to live in a utopia/society that didn't recognize
the individual. A society where your every move or action was
monitored so you could be corrected for every mistake or wrong
deed. Who would want to live like that?
I really don't think there ever will be a Utopia where
everyone is happy/satisfied. Humanity would need to
be mentally perfect. There will always be variations in
personallity and thought. Otherwise we wouldn't be
humans, we would be machines.
