An excellent song, for a grass-chewer. But you know this cannot go unanswered! Have at ye!
Bottle Capped in Black I was standin' in me quarters just this mornin' Without a thought of worry or of care When I saw a vessel comin' up behind me While seabirds played and frolicked in the air.
They rang a bell and hollered out a greeting It was me dear friend, Calico Cat Jack But he well knew the sorrow that he brought me When he handed me a bottle capped in black.
Oh, eagerly I took the bottle from him I read the label, this is what it said: "Drink me up, friend, I'm stolen from the hoofers Drink me up, friend, and nothin' makes you dead."
I took a swig and saved some for me mateys We'd rule the seas and all would live in dread But the bottle that I drank of just this mornin' Is raisin' Cane with somethin' in me head.
The last thing that I remember clearly Was feeling curly locks upon me back Me eyes are blurred, me poor old head is fuzzy The Devil take that bottle capped in black.
Forget that time I sent the Navy for you You know I didn't mean it, don't you, Jack? But how could I deserve a fate like this one, Why me to give that bottle capped in black?
