Dental problems.
« on: June 11, 2017, 08:07:01 am »
Every once in a while, I'll hear somebody who says they are having some sort of teeth/mouth problem. Well, I decided to finally make a poll to find out where we all are on the issue and what we all have.

You don't have an option for "no issues".
Because I have no issues.

That's what the "Other option. Please explain" is for.  I can't think of everything, Loc.

Was born with my jaws out of line. They would catch and slam shut. Cracking and breaking teeth. After years of living with pain I finally got dentures. Been pain free for the past three years.

I've honestly thought about getting all mine pulled and going for dentures.

I heard you have to get used to the feel and taste, but honestly it wouldn't bother me if it meant giving open mouth smiles.

You also have to learn to talk a bit differently at times. I had a singer/song writer contest to do one week after. I spent the entire week learning not to whistle. And I won! The top plate is easy to wear. I broke the bottom plate the first time I tried eating with them.

My wisdom tooth needed to be pulled out according to the dentist, even though I didn't see the problem. I know the dentist knows more about teeth than I do, but all I noticed was that it hurt.

Also, I have had braces in the past because my teeth were skewed, but not that much. It wasn't that urgent, so I got to choose if I wanted them or not. I eventually chose to get them, but I no longer have them now.

lol My top two wisdom teeth have rotted down to the pulp/root, the right one is basically shaped like someone scooped the top off it with a spoon while the left is rapidly breaking down to the same point. I have a couple other cavities as well but they thankfully haven't really gotten worse in the past few years.

My wisdom teeth actually have enough room in the back (thank you ancestral neanderthal DNA) but sadly my eating habits resulted in them developing substantial cavities until they started breaking apart.

Rarely hurt though, which I'm thankful for.

Just call me gummy.. :D  I have store bought teeth. I like
them alot better than having to worry over dental work. I
thought about implants, but at my age I can't justify the
price.

So far I have no real complaints. The lower plate floats now
and then, but a bit of stickum takes care of that.  :D

Have rather "soft" teeth (thanks to years of different meds, inhalers, etc.). Which has lead to recently having a large chunk of tooth break off while at work. And over the last few years, little bits have chipped and such rather easily.

I also have, apparently, overly deep depressions in my molars, which make them prone to problems. Had sealant placed in them numerous times when I was younger.

That said, I have yet to have a cavity or such. And I try my best to take care of my teeth.

Mine are not great nor perfect but ok.
As a kid, I had a dentist that totally abused my teeth for no reason at all, so they got really messed up.
Then later on managed to smash my front teeth in an industrial accident!
Try to take as much care as i can with them now with regular check-ups and all but do have dental phobia now from my younger years!

It's good for body health to keep ones teeth in good shape. I knew a
woman who worked at keeping her teath clean, she flossed every day
went to the dentist regular., but ended up loosing them to a gum
disease.

So there isn't any guarantees, one can only work at good dental health.
