I'm posting this poll/thread just for simple curiosity. Read the below link, then cast your vote in the above poll.

https://www.studentnewsdaily.com/conservative-vs-liberal-beliefs/

Whether the above link is accurate or not in describing Liberal vs. Conservative beliefs, I do not know. I am only using it as a "sample link" to help gauge people's responses and votes in this thread.

Probably closer to Libertarian but I do find myself siding a notable amount on the side of conservative.

The area I grew up in was very conservative so I grew up as such, but as I
grew older I have become more liberal.  I think it's better to see the world
with a open mind, and not stuck with ideas that belong in my past.

Though the left has some nice socialistic ideas, too much of it harms initiative.
It's invention and the desire to grow has made this country great. Unfortunately
some with greed and the lack of concern for others can and has degraded societies
to the point of revolution in the past. Of course then the wealthy built walls  and had
the poor or slaves to do their bidding.  Seems that didn't work in the past since it
leaves an area open to invasion. Not counting all the suffering by the poor and
disadvantaged.

Since I am sure we don't want to repeat that, we should limit those who only think of
themselves. Require them to share the wealth they would not have gained without
the aid of a strong country and economy.

In my opinon anyway.

I am very conservative. I used to be over the line, but I have mellowed out a little after getting exposure to people. But I am still a very strong conservative.

I generally align with conservative. There are a few things I am quite passionate about, but most other things I don't care too much about.

I can't align with either side because it puts me in a lose-lose situation.  I like certain ideas and principals from one side, but then i also like bits and pieces from the other.  And of course if you align with one side, agreeing with anything the other side says turns you into a bad guy.

So no, i'm not into taking either side right now.

I was a conservative more of  classical liberal (limited government, individual liberty open immigration, ) The problem is conservatism, post Regan , shifted to big government   Nationalism especially with Trump and possibly at the edge of fascism.

I align myself more with Libertarianism.

Anarcho-capitalist.

I should point out that this poll is kind of hypothetical in America, since it doesn't actually have a liberal party (outside of third parties who don't stand a chance in a FPTP system). As far as the rest of the world can tell, Democrats = moderate conservatives; Republicans = extreme conservatives. Does it really take Clinton vs Trump for Americans to realise that?

I am not Conservative. And while I agree with a large number of the things they list as Liberal, there are several I disagree with.  Though I don't think there are any of the Conservative points they listed that I agree completely with.

This is why I'd like to see the first past the post voting system replaced with instant runoff voting.  As it currently is, we in the US are largely stuck with the two major parties. However, I think the high level of religiosity in the US is also a contributing factor to why both parties tend towards conservatism.

Trouble is we have a mostly silent majority in the US. Especially in off year elections.

The "Right" tends to be more interested in voting than the "left" So the right feels they
have a mandate to run the country when they win. I suppose they do if the Left doesn't
care enough to vote.

With the right and left moving to more of an extreeme position, I think
there are more people moving away from party allegiance and becoming
independents.

For me, it depends on the issue at hand. On the conservative side, I am for getting rid of unnecessary regulations, getting rid of overspending, cutting down the power of the federal government, harsher punishments for those who hold office found guilty of committing crimes (Say hello to Leavenworth, Hillary), finding ways to lower the cost of living rather than raising the minimum wage (which also raises the cost of living, negating the purpose people always push for it), better boarder security, immigration reform, REMOVING MONEY FROM THE LOBBYING SYSTEM, and placing limits on abortion (first few times, understandable, but when you're a repeat customer, there's a point where the person in question needs some real world education in responsibility), and equal opportunity NOT equal outcome.

On the liberal end of things, I am for opening up marriage for same sex and multiple partner marriages. I am for a better education system,  taxing Wall Street and phasing it out (Along with the Federal Reserve, which is where a lot of our troubles started with economically: printing out more money with no backing devalues the strength of our money, and no one bank should have the level of control the Federal Reserve does).

Voted other because I don't fit in the two-party system that has dominated US politics for some time now.  I'm a mish-mash of all sorts of stuff.

Socially, I'm more liberal and am more for equality, no issues with gay rights, abortions ok if the mom's life is in danger, nature should be respected.

Economically, I'm more conservative, and feel that everyone needs to work for the greater good of the whole; no free handouts, help out and earn it even if you can't contribute as much you still need to be an active citizen, red-tape and excessive laws actually hurt jobs and commerce

Politically, I've ranked with libertarians quite often, but I do not agree with some of their views either.  Big one being marijuana being totally legalized.  That's just what we don't need--potheads on every corner because they can!

Conservative with libertarian leanings. I don't care what someone does in private as long as they're nice to me. Actually met a famous radio personality--a name many of you would recognize.

This is the first election I can vote in, and I was all for Bernie Sanders because I'm a lazy, bleeding-heart, progressive, liberal cuck. There is nothing appealing about conservatism to me, socially and economically. There are some disputed further-left wing ideas that don't sit well with me, but I digress.

I voted "Other". I consider myself more of a right-leaning centrist - not a fan of extremes when it comes to politics. Socially liberal, morally conservative you might say? Libertarianism does hold some appeal with me as well - I like the concept of removing big government from people's lives and letting smaller communities create more efficient solutions to their problems.

I fall rather between and outside the two. And by that I mean I disagree with each side on enough issues (sometimes with both at once) that I don't feel I can pick a "side".

I fall pretty heavily to the ideas of libertarianism in practice - smaller government involvement in both social AND economic points.
In reality, I lean somewhat left in economic ideals (to the collectivist side of things), and fall hard to the thought-line of anarchism in terms of social views (complete disdain for most all authoritarian concepts).
