Come to think of it, I could some advice on this one.  It's definitely not finished, but I don't know what to do with it now ;).

I'm kinda at a loss about what other elements I could apply to the image, so if anyone has any suggestions, please share! :)

It's a good start and looks pretty nice over all.

It would look better with shading. Also the eyes and nose could use a little
more detail.

A bit of background always adds a finishing touch. It's usually best when
it fits the character. In this case. Grass and perhaps weeds. Remember its
a wild creature so the grass would likely be long.

If your art program has layers use them when building a background. If your
drawing on paper one usually starts with the background.

One thing to remember. Your drawings will always look better when you
do a good job on the details.

Keep up the good work.

I'll try to put together a background in the bottom layer.  I like the idea of grass, though I don't know how to make it "long" (:;  I guess we'll see what happens.  Maybe I'll have him up against a rock or a wall or something...  After that, I'll clean it up and try and play with the eyes/nose.

It's always good to draw new things. Especially if
they are hard. It usually pays benefits later.

Here is an example of long grass in one of my drawings.

Also shows how I used a limited background, it usually works well
for illustrations.

Hope it's helpful.

Okay, well, I've cleaned things up a bit and added a background; a limited background was definitely the way to go, since I don't really know what I'm doing  (:.  Anyway, I'm not sure if this is the final revision or not (probably not).  I'm pretty happy with the result though, so anyway:

Thanks Sciex :).

I learned soooo much doing that drawing.  I just hope I retain some of it for later (:.

That turned out well greenfox . The touch up and background
really improved the drawing over all.

Something to be proud of. :orbunny:

Thanks for all the feedback on the fox drawing, everyone; :)  My new goal is to new get better at drawing without constantly relying on reference images to guide me, since there's not necessarily a good photo or drawing for everything I want to draw.

In the meantime, here's a quick one I never got around to posting:

Perhaps I'll add some background in this if I'm ever looking for something to do.

You will get there. Drawing well from your imagination takes alot of practice. Even
professional artists and cartoonists use references.

I keep a lot of reference material for that purpose myself.. :orbunny:

Sooo...  I decided to create a new avatar this morning.  This is what I have; I decided to go for a more flat color look.  I just need to add a background or something, but I can't decide to what to do... (:

So, I basically added a purple background and painted some stars on it.  You can't really see it in the ~100x100px size, but it still looks okay :)

~ I hope I haven't confused anyone by flipping through new avatars too quickly :P

I think I'll revisit the one above for a touch up at some point in the near future.  That little black nose triangle just does not look right.

Whelp, I retouched the avatar I drew back in June:

This is one I'll probably continually retouch as a I learn new skills and stuff.  Getting angles right is difficult :P

Once I get that down better, the shadowing should improve as well (at least that's my hope :P).

I have found flipping a drawing over is very telling when it comes to checking
angles and prospectives. It's easy if your using a computer. If it's a drawing
on paper use a mirror or scan it to a computer and then flip it.

Keep up the good work. :orbunny:
