Storm Fox Studios™
« on: October 16, 2011, 11:58:40 pm »
I’ve talked about my artwork and the various works that I make, but seldom post or show them, so…
I figured it’s about time that I started putting some of my work on the internet for others to finally see.

I’ll eventually build a proper website to host my artwork, though that may be a ways off, so for now I’ll just post my work in this thread.

For those who visit this thread, feel free to critique things if you want, as it helps to give ideas for improvement.
Though keep in mind that I intend for this thread to be for my final works, in that, what I post here is considered complete and finished,
Meaning that I don’t intend to make any further changes to what has already been posted,
But I will appreciate any advice, so that I may improve my future work.

In trying to make things a little more official, I’ve designed a new Storm Fox Studios™ logo for the artwork that I make,
This is a web release version of my logo, so it’s a little different than the official one that will be on my artwork.

Real nice job on the logo Storm fox. Is the fox one of your CGI Blender creations?

It looks so professional, with all the (c) and TM's.  :D
But if the art is as amazing as the logo, then I'll have to come check out your site!

Thanks for the complement Old Rabbit, :)

And no,
While the fox is based off of an unfinished blender model that I’ve been working on, (my fursona),
This one is completely hand drawn in Photoshop.

But don’t get too ahead of me, a website is something that I’ve been planning for a long time,
And it may still be quite a bit longer still, as Furtopia web hosting was a key part of my original plan.

Ok.. Very nice digital drawing of the fox.  Nice shading too.

The Blender CGI model for kobuk’s new fursona is finally finished… :D

I’ve been working on this one in my spare time since late September, and have spent the last couple weeks getting things to render properly.
There’s still a few light and shadow errors, but there is presently no realistic way to fix all of them, though for the most part I think it came out rather well.

Here are some of the pictures from the render collection that I made,

The collection is called Wolf in the woods.

And here are a few facial expressions…

All renders are made from scratch with Blender 2.59, textures and post processing done in Blender and in Photoshop.

Original character idea and concept by: forums.furtopia.org member, Kobuk.
Everything else is copyright: © 2011 Storm Fox Studios™, All Rights Reserved.

@Kobuk

Kobuk, you are free to do as you wish with the pictures in this post, so long as it is for non profit, non commercial use,
And that you attribute me (as in Storm Fox, or Storm Fox Studios™) as the artist of the picture(s) whenever or wherever displayed.

Sorry for all the formal / legal stuff. (:

Also, keep an eye on your PM’s Kobuk, in a little while, I’ll be sending you a link so you can get the full collection, hope you like it. :)

Wow Storm Fox! Great job! I rarely get to see CG like this in furry art (except in a few movies). Thanks for sharing :)

Storm Fox:  My sincerest apologies for not replying earlier to your thread here. I have sent you a PM a little while ago before I started this post.

As for your pictures.......

The 1st, 2nd, and 5th pictures came out good. I don't see much, if any, improvement that needs to be done to them. :)

If the fangs are being slightly shown as in the 3rd and 4th pics, then they should be a polished steel color, kinda like silver almost.

The 3rd pic is nice, but I think the ears or the eyes.....or both?......may still need work. *takes another look*  Hmmmm. Another problem might be the way the front view of the head looks "elongated" going from left to right. The top of the head looks kinda flat a little.

That's really cool, never thought of something like that. I'd like to see a 3D modle of my character someday!
Come find me! More to come!

@Kobuk

Making the fangs appear brighter and shinier would not be difficult, however the head structure is another story.
Think of it as trying to change the shape and layout of a house's foundation, without changing or modifying the house that sits atop the foundation.
Not that it can’t be changed, it’s just a very involved process.

Also, when you say the head looks elongated from left to right, do you mean the head appears too wide?

If that’s the case, I did make the head a bit wide to complement the characters masculine frame.
Where as a narrower, simmer head would have given a more feminine look.
Though perhaps I over did it a little, but if you think the other pictures look good then maybe it’s just the camera angle, focal length, etc.
It’s kind of hard to explain without showing you how things look in the model editor and how it all works.

But in any case,
Thanks for your input, and if / when I decide to update the model, I’ll keep in mind what you said.

@Carter CatFox

I wanted to make a nice sized version of the little robot fox avatar that I had during the April fools' day robot takeover, so that everyone can get a better look at him… enjoy. :orfox:

Built, animated, and rendered in Blender 2.62,
Mesh textures made, and gif file compiled in Photoshop CS2.
