First Con Badge ^_^
« on: June 09, 2008, 09:54:56 am »
Well I just finished up my first con badge ever drawn ^_^ It's for Kotto for her trip to AC 2008. I personally like it but I was wondering if I could get some feedback from the more seasoned artiest at Furtopia.

Any critique is nice as long as its constructive, and yes I still need to get some better pencil crayons >.>

My only main bit of advice would be to make the name bigger. You've got a fair bit of white space under your drawing, so I'd have ruled it off lightly, divided it evenly and made the letters big, fat and bold so that anyfur who meets your friend can just glance and go 'Hi Kotto, nice to meet you' instead of spending several moment bent over peering at the badge on her chest.

Otherwise you've done a nice job, the picture's appealing and I'm sure your friend will be touched that you've made such an effort for her.
I am not a liturgical pervert dammit!

Thanks, thats really useful information ^_^  I still have never gone to a con so I wouldn't have know that if no one told me.  Luckily she has some other badges that have her name more proper like so she wont have to rely on mine ;)

Also as a side note, yes the coloring sucks >.>

It doesn't matter the type of colored pencils you use. I have seen beautiful things done with Roseart and Crayola colored pencils. It's all about working with what you have and doing the best you can with it. Plus, not everybody has enough money for Prismacolors or Trias. XD

That aside, I like it so far. I would recommend studying the human body (Nocte, a user on this forum, made a beautiful tutorial that is so much help) . Practice drawing the different parts of the body, the way the muscles are, and the proportioning. Even the best artists can have trouble proportioning so there's always more room to learn it! :D After you're accustom to drawing the human body well enough, you can move onto challenging things like anthropomorphic creatures. You have to crawl before you walk and all that jazz y'know~?
And Iíll be wearing white when I come into your kingdom,
Iím as green as the ring on my little cold finger,
Iíve never known the lovin' of a man,
But it sure felt nice when he was holding my hand.
