Honestly, I think that the best advice, and probably the first one, is that you need three things:
1- practice
2- perseverence
3- practice

That means that you need twice as much practice than perseverence (shamelessly ripped off from "Chicken Run").
Then again, that's true in almost everything in life. Driving, school, animation, cooking, etc...

Otherwise, look at drawings, and try to see how they are made.

I'm not saying I'm a particularly good artist, but seriously, that's what I've always been told, and it's true... So, I guess that there's always this...
"There is no problem that cannot be solved with the judicious and precise application of high explosives or heavy ordnance."

Another way to improve upon your own abilities is to look at other artists works and read the comments that viewers leave. I do that a lot. I read the comment and look at the art piece and than I realize what the viewer was seeing and I try and remember to not make the same mistakes in my own artistic creations.

Plus, I have also found looking at photos and other artwork, not copying them, but trying to learn from them like where arms are placed on the body. Where do the elbows relate to the main body and where to the hands align compared to the body. I also learned shading by looking at photos and other artists works.

As Firebreath stated, TONS of practice, practice and yes, MORE practice! '<img'>

You can always post something here that you drew, making sure it is rated PG-13 for these forums, and if you want feedback for improvement, others will be happy to give you some positive criticism. Hopefully that helps.

Don't know if I should post something from another forum, but over at Yerf we've got a Sticky Thread with a looooong list of recommended art books (the page1,2 and 3 links are links to the old list which was lost and recovered). The Loomis books, available free online (although I'm not sure if the links still work) are *highly* recommended, at least by me. They've helped me tremendously.
Are we there yet?

I don't think there is any problem with posting a link to another forum with good information, Manic.

Also, welcome to our forums. Would you mind taking a walk over to the "Furry Greeting" topic and introducing yourself so all the other fursons can meet you? Tell us a bit about yourself like how you found Furtopia etc.
