So, I got violently angry today with something. Now, certain people here would like to tell me how that's not healthy. I should "seek help." I have a name for these people. But I digress...

I'm trying to make a little comic strip which I will post on Furtopia if I get the chance and approval. There are many problems, which is to be expected, because one day God was like "And a cloud of Doom shall follow that kid, evermore...Why? Oh, I dunno...he's ugly."

But, I've been able to sort of snuff the other problems. But the main problem is shading. As is to be expected, some of the characters are skunks. However, shading them is hard because then it basically starts to look like Noob Saibot (only Mortal Kombat furries will get that.) Basically, a black smudge with a basic shape. This hurts the details, alot. I thought about just not shading them, and using specially placed lines for the stipes and what not. I mean, if you don't know a skunk when you see it, even uncolored, and you're a part of this fandom, then you need to really study up on this. Anyway, the problem with not shading them was that then they clash with the background, then it's hard to distinguish them. Unless there's no background, which is boring.

So, I'm seeking help. Real help, actual suggestions. I have downloaded GIMP and will try to see what it can do for me. I've never used it before, and haven't installed it yet.

One more thing...anything that involves buying pricey stuff ($30 or better) is out of the question. See, we barely have enough to continue living here, and all money now is going towards Christmas (or by now, something similar to it).

I tried using MS Paint but I sort of suck at it. I may try again though. I'm sure there are helpful cartoonists here. One thing I am thinking might work is using thinner lines for the background so that the uncolored characters stand out better.

I know this thread is sort of choppy, and weirdly written, but I'm very distracted at the time, so please, bare with me.

Fur's all frazzled,

Ok, dude, here's what you gotta do:
Scan the work you have so far. Post it here. Then I can give you real suggestions which are specific to your style.
It's nearly impossible to give advice on visual art without actually seeing it. I can guess at what your troubles are, but that's about as helpful as speculating about someone's symptoms and then prescribing them an antibiotic.

Also, just a friendly word of advice: Don't insult people in your posts, especially without provocation. It will make them far less eager to help you.

Agreed with Kess. (1) It's generally not a good idea to insult people who are trying to give you advice, and (2) are you seriously trying to claim that getting "violently angry" over a drawing is normal, well-adjusted behavior? If people are telling you you should seek help, then maybe, just maybe, you should stop engaging in passive-aggressive sniping and think about whether they're right.

(Sorry about going off-topic, mods, but allegations have been made, both in this thread and others.)

I've actually decided to cancel the whole idea. I don't have the resources, time, motivation, or the ability to maintain inside of the posting guidelines when misinterpretations happen on threads. The end is in sight, so I guess the only question is do I want to be quiet about it, or have fun with it?
