Headbang while you work? working tunes...
« on: April 14, 2009, 05:57:23 pm »
It had hit me today, earlier, that I couldn't really concentrate 'less i had something blasting in my ear...in my case, Hair Bands.  since I don't have an MP3 player, I'm still buying CD's.

does anybody else work by, or NEED to have music or something going while they're working?

I prefer to have music on while I'm working.  It gets me in the mood to create and allows me to concentrate on the project, especially if the project has a particular theme that I can relate to music-wise.  There are some times when I get into the music more than my work and end up air-guitarin' or even dancing, much to my husband's amusement when he's walked in on me.  :D

I work in silence. If I have music on, it usually makes me want to design something to match. ^.^;

I enjoy silence. But I also enjoy working with music on, sadly the only one at work who plays decent music I don't work with often. The boss plays a tired rock station on the radio that plays a repeating loop of 80s hair bands, after you hear 'Hot Blooded' three times a day, every day and the same three Led Zepplin songs followed by either 'Hot for Teacher' or 'Ice Cream Man', it gets a little grating on the nerves. It feels akin to trying to sleep next to a water pipe that is constantly dripping, creeking, or making an odd sound, and by the time you try to predict it, it changes its pattern.

The other person plays emo crap muic like 'Secret and Whisper' and som other group whose singer sounds like hes been awake for three months straight and is ready to fall asleep at any time, he doesn't even sing the songs, he just yells the lyrics while the band plays a non rythmic tune in the background. (EDIT: This band is called MeWithoutYou, yes it's supposed to run together.)

Tach: kinda like Hockey...

kayolan: that's like with me and country music, which is the only bloody thing they have up here, nowadays.

I learned to read a thick book while listening to tape loops (and I mean literally tapes) for an hour and a half on the school buss home, and it slowly crept into the point that I can't concentrate without certian tones.  for me it happens to be the like of Ozzy, Queensryche, great white, poison, Van Halen, etc...I get distracted it it's something more on the likes of Thrash Metal or really heavy stuff (with the possible exception of Rob Zombie)

I also used to work to the likes of < <  > >  *whisper* Yanni....*normal*but I was too busy enjoying the vibes off the music...it's like, for me, listening to something like the Boston Pops...no matter WHO they're under (i prefer John Williams, actually)
