Horse head tutorials
« on: December 13, 2005, 03:30:40 am »
Alright, here's the deal...it's been a long time since I've drawn horses of any sort (my middle school years were devoted to the unicorn/pegasus craze of the late 80's).  I'm now doing a large scale project that requires anthro horses, and though I got the main part down I'm still lacking that "proud horse" look that equines have.

I would be greatly in the debt of anyone who can point me in the direction of kick-@$$ horse heads--the net isn't giving me jack-squat for how-to-draw steps.  Thanks in advance for the advice and help.

Nocte had a useful mini-tutorial in a thread not too long ago.

Simply put though: a horse model would be almost the same as any other animorphic model. The neck needs to be moved to below the skull, instead of behind it. And instead of using two attached circles for the head and snout, you use two separated ones. The distance between the two (depending on the type of horse and postitioning) is no less than half the diameter of  the smaller circle and is in most cases, equal to.

I'm sure the tutorials are better than my rambling. ':p'
