How do I resize images?
« on: June 02, 2005, 10:21:00 am »
When I upload pictures to photobucket, they're huge! '' They stretch the page and make viewing the iamge as a whole difficult. How do I resize the pictures to make them not massive? Please note I don't have a fancy art program... I've got paint! (Which is useless ':p' )

In photobucket,in the menu where you see all your pics...look for the pic you wanna resize, and click "EDIT"(its over the pic),itīll take you to another page where you can resize it to 75,50 or 25 percent, click an option and then click the "resize" button.THIS IS IRREVERSIBLE,so be very sure that you want to do it.

I just tried that, but when I brought it up in it's own page, where it just shows the image, it's still massive.

Hmmm.... maybe this link will help? Resizing Tutorial
I use Photoshop to resize all of my images, so I don't know how well it can be done without using a program, but it can't hurt to try '<img'>

Or, if that doesn't work either, I could probably resize the pictures for you with Photoshop if you wanted

You could try using Irfanview

http://www.irfanview.com/

It's a pretty simple and free image conversion program. I use it to make all my thumbnails and stuff, as well as change to whatever format I may need an image in. It's not huge at all, and it can be really useful.

Within Paint click on 'Image', choose 'Stretch/Skew'  and then change the Horizontal and Vertical percentages; to reduce it by half change them from 100% to 50%, to reduce it 1/4 change them to 75%, etc. I always save an extra full size version of the file before playing around with it, that way if I don't like the result I still have an original to copy again.

I'll second IrfanView. It's what I've been using for the past couple years or so, and I think it's just nifty.

I'll have to look at those other programs! I tried the photobucket thingy again, and ended up killing a picture... ':dead:'  Good thing I was going to delete it anyway! I used Sporty Foxes idea, and it worked best, plus it was easy to understand! (I'm horrible at this game!'<img'> So thanks to everyone who repsonded, you were alot of help!
