How I draw my furs.
« on: June 26, 2004, 03:08:27 am »
Something I've noticed is that I tend to draw a different variety of fur than many people are accustomed to, as a few have pointed out to me. I've recieved a little criticism for it, but a lot more positive reinforcement.

So, I just thought I'd share how I go about drawing my furs ':p' Maybe someone will get something out of it '<img'>

http://criticalsyntaxerrors.homestead.com/files/sbsc1.jpg (470 kb)

http://criticalsyntaxerrors.homestead.com/files/sbsc2.jpg (650 kb)

(They're really, really high resolution. Just scroll around them slowly, the extra detail is worth it)

Both of these pictures detail, in more or less specific terms, the steps I take when drawing a ho-hum run of the mill catgirl. More complex things I wont go into, cause they're more complex! '<img'>

'' well thats neat! dont see what other may have picked on you for the head, i do it in much the same way, starting with the nose or eyes, mainly the eyes since they display a lot of the mood in a character. so for the head, was good, but you didnt really go into it enough to teach much, as far as porportions go

now only flaw i see is in the second one, for the body. after you pass the breast, its a bit off, but then it is how you do it. so maybe not, still i think your characters would come out better if you took more time in making sure this part was right.

nice how to, thing overall

Well, of course it's "a bit off". For one thing, I'm not the best artist in the world yet, so it's going to remain a bit off  ':p' And secondly, in my defense, people themselves are "a bit off". Nobody in reality has perfect proportions either  '<img'>

'' yeah youre right, no ones perfectly porportioned. yet, i think you missed my point, you wont really get better till you start doing it right, something i had to learn with muscules.

still i think  it was good, ya know.

I like your style. You do see more muzzled furrys out there and seeing one with a more human face makes them more memorable.

I like the way you draw your furries. Their unique to you. I don't see why someone should critize you for it.

Way cool
