You must be living in the stone age, my friend.  CS3 came out a little less than a month ago.  Works great here, can't complain really.  If you're on a budget, CS2 will work just as well.

I have CS2 and I don’t really feel like upgrading yet simply because from what I’ve seen they have really changed the interface set up and there aren’t that many new features that I’m interested in.

Plus I don’t really have the cash for it.

Also, if you purchase a student version of software, the license doesn't allow you to use the product to make money.

Who would honestly know which ver. of CS3 you were using anyway to care? Sounds as bad as buying the same OS several times to upgrade home computers. >.>

CS3 is fabulous. I adore it and it's made me FINALLY move over to Photoshop for my artwork. Plus, it runs on my ancient computer, so that's a bonus!

CS3 looks great for what it costs, but ill never understand why its costs so much anyway. Ill stick to my Photoshop 7.

Ya know, me being here has a inevitable sense of irony since truthfully, I am not a furry.

Photoshop costs so much because it's industry standard. It's what professionals use.

I have Photoshop CS2 and find it very easy and pleasant to work with.

However if you are very strapped for cash there's plenty of freeware out there that'll do a good job while you save your pennies. I personally love Artweaver - it talks to my scanner and tablet, has layers, smudge and crop functions and is a very nice programme to work with.

I know many people like the GIMP programme too, although tbh it's one I've never got along with, but that's just a me thing rather than a particular gripe with the proggie itself.
I am not a liturgical pervert dammit!
