I have photoshop but I really do not know how to use it. I know this is vague and maybe asking a lot but is it possible to get a "general overview" of how to use it properly in regards to furry art? the coloring and making it look more professional etc etc.

Neon dragon used to have some really good tutorials on her site, but it's being updated so you can check that out, but there's not much there anymore. I learnt tons from her site, mostly about colouring, but some really useful tips for drawing aswell, but it wasn't really furry-based, but it could be applied to almost everything.

With the colouring, just remember that layers are your friend, I always put my lines (which don't have to be inked, just set the layer style to multiply) at the top, and my colours underneath that (each on their own layer). It allows you to edit it without ruining everything. Then you can use the airbrush tool (there's a button with a pencil and a squigly line on the tool bar) and change the opacity and flow to get just the right look for what your doing.

The link to Neon Dragon's site:

I hope that helped a little...

Someone posted a thread similar to this a year or two ago. I posted some basic tutorials about the various tools there. You might be interested in taking a look at it. Keep in mind that some of it may not apply to the current version of photoshop (though the majority of it should)

As I said in that thread, if you have any questions, feel free to ask.

if you dont know photoshop And you can't take a class at your local community college on the subject i would say your best way to learn it would be to buy a book and really read it ( i mean it!) read the book and follow all the little practice assignments. Photoshop is very deep , just so much to learn its hard to put in to a post.
