What you could do is go and get an encyclopedia of world mammals or birds or fish or whatever suits your fancy and just cruise through the pages until you find something that catches your eye.  You'll be able to bypass all the commonly done anthros and dig out the lesser drawn ones.  I've done that on the occassion myself.   '<img'>

Or just make up an animal.  People have done that too, heh.  And I'm not saying there's anything wrong with that.  I'm actually quite fond of the pandlions, mookitties, and such we have (and had) here. '<img'>  Maybe a girafforilla... '<img'>

Of course there's the often imitated "Give the anthro human attributes" like yours truly does. Or in my case have someone else do it for you.  (My fursona flops back and forth between human and anthro so much the human side carried over a bit).  Besides how often do you see a kitsune' with glasses and a mustache and goatee?

Before I knew about the furry or anthro scene, I doodled up a hockey-playing cape buffalo based after the (former) Toronto Roadrunners logo. It was crazy, but cool.

Y'don't really see too many birds, either (from what I've gathered), except for the griffins. I've noticed quite a few species of griffins here.
Fruitcake is a legitimate gender in my book.

Moles
Worms
Sow bugs/potato bugs
Leeches
Lice
Fly
Etc, etc, etc.
Basically anything most people find too gross to make into a fursona. '<img'>

I came up with an anthro prarie chicken recently. I'll try to get some art up some time, maybe not soon, but eventually.

Echidnas, Komoto Dragons (spelling?), Turkeys, I dunno....sea anenomes?  Why anyone would want to be a sea anenome is beyond me, but we all have our interests don't we?

I agree with romper, we need more marsupials.  Or just Aussie animals for that matter.  Like I say, Echidnas, Pademelons, Wallaby, Wallaroo, Koala, Tasmanian Devil, Platypus, Wombat, Emu, Kassowary, Goanna, And other ones like that.
I hate mondays...

and the other days too.

I think you mean Ornithorhynchus anatinus (source: Wikipedia)

And they are from Australia, and they are funny little things. British scientists didn't even believe that such a crazy little animal could exist.

Personally I'm love the way tapirs and anteaters look. Such a unique and smooth shape! I don't think many people draw them often, but I've seen some really nice artwork with these lovely creatures. I think hedge hogs are cool looking. Maybe I like them because I used to have one as a pet, or maybe its because I have spikey hair?  '<img'>
I've never met a dog that I didn't like.

Late reply, I know, but as regards to some of these animals, I actually do have a hippo anthro in my collection of characters, as well as two not quite as anthro but still anthro birds.  As well as a mango.  A MANGO, people :O
