Sunlight tutorials for PS?
« on: January 03, 2006, 11:56:42 pm »
I'm just learning how to do my art in Photoshop, and there's certain things I'm having a terrible time with.  One of them is making it look realistic when one of my characters is standing under a tree on a sunny day, with the sunlight coming through the leaves and onto their fur and clothes.  does anyone have any suggestions or know of any tutorials for it?  even using various levels of transparancy on several layers, it still comes out as just bright spots, or yellow spots, not areas of light and shadow.

Try this.

Dragon Paint's other tutorials are really helpful too. They can all be found here

Hope this helps

Those are very helpful in general thank you!  But unfortunately not what I'm looking for.  Here's an example "bad" piece:

As you can see, the shirt and jeans just look splotchy, where I was trying to get that dappled effect from the sunlight.  I just can't figure out what I could do differently though.   '<img'>

I've seen a tutorial on DA that shows exactly how to do that.  I believe the name of it was "the book of photoshop".  I tried searching for it for you, but couldn't find it.  '<img'>
