We were planning on going with our little furmeet group, but our mother decided it was "irresponsible" and "a waste of money".  :P  Oh well, maybe next year...

They've posted the schedule online:

https://www.rainfurrest.org/2013/sched/sched.html

It looks like I'll be doing ten panels this year, including a reading at 11am on Friday.  I'm also trying to convince my husband to enter the variety show with an otter love song he wrote, "Otterly Adore You."

My mom made an otter costume for my three-month-old son to wear at Rainfurrest.  Here's a picture of my grandma holding the little otter pup:

I found my ears and tail!  I thought I'd left them in California at my father-in-law's house when I went to FurCon, because they were very thoroughly lost.  I've been looking for them all week, and I'd pretty much resigned myself to having to do my first furry con without them.  But now I can teach people about writing while wearing pointy, orange ears!

Rainfurrest, as always, was amazing.  Here's my daughter with a bunch of fursuits:

I was surprised to discover that while my son was the youngest fursuiter at the con, he was not the only infant fursuiter -- there was an eight-month-old fox as well:

By the way, he's an otter.  Not a bear.  Some people had trouble telling.  And, when his hood was down, people seemed to assume he was just a big plushy and looked really surprised when it was revealed there was an actual baby inside.

The highlight of the con for my daughter was the dances.  If she was good all day, then she got to go to the first half hour and run herself ragged on the dance floor while my husband and I swing danced to the techno:

The highlight for my husband was the variety show.  This was the first year he took part, and he had a lot of fun performing a song he wrote called "Otterly Adore You."  He's already working on a new furry song -- a do-wop werewolf love song -- for next year.
