Good food.
« on: March 09, 2008, 01:49:54 pm »
Ok, I know I really enjoy cooking a good meal.  But when I'm not cooking or I'm too tired I like to eat out.

Of these restaurants in order:

Red Lobster: Seafood is my favorite but I can rarely afford it.
Jeet India: Indian food is a close second and finding a GOOD Indian restaurant is not always easy.  Jeet is AWSOME and has a good lunch buffet.
Chinese: I line any good Chinese food and it makes up a good staple as the price is often good.
Mexican: I get in the mood for Mexican because I love hot and spicy foods.
Vegetarian: I like vegetarian dishes because as I get older I fend my self craving fresh vegtables and fruits more and more.
Perkins: I love eating as Perkins when I'm on the road.  They offer a "home cooked" like menu and no matter where in the country I have been I've NEVER gotten bad food from a Perkins ever. So it's a safe bet for me when I travel.

Ok furs what are some of your eating favorites? :)

We have this place called Panera Bread which serves sandwiches, paninis (<3), soup, homemade bread, muffins, rolls, etc. It has a really nice atmosphere around closing time because everything is really clam and collected.

Panera Bread, yeah! I was going to them back when they were called St. Louis Bread Co. They have awesome bagels. I don't know anything about clams, though ;)

Mm, yeah, Panera Bread is good.

My favorite restaurant is Swinger's, though I think it's a local place rather than a chain. They have this amazing buffalo chicken sandwich and potato leek soup. I also like Wings Etc. (If you're noticing a pattern here, I'm quite fond of spicy food and chicken. *laugh*) I'm also a big fan of sandwiches, so Blimpie's and Subway are favorites too.

And Mcdonalds. I don't care how bad it is for you, it's freaking delicious.

I avoid chains, with the exception of In-N-Out when I just want something fast.  Chains just tend to be bland and boring, especially since I live in a culinary Mecca.

My favorite single-location place I've found here would be Icheza, A Japanese place in the Chinatown mall that I was introduced to recently.  Fantastic grilled squid.  There's also decent Thai around the UNLV campus.  I'm still looking for an Indian place, but I'm sure there is one.

edit: don't forget we have a Foodie Furs forum for more food discussion.

hey, Boss, you'd love it here, then.  we have 8 Chinese restaurants in a borough of only 8000! (somebody got busted, tho... with certian feline items).

nice to know Perkins isn't restricted to here.  we have a "Hoss's" and even a Ponderosa.  the "local" chain is called "valley Dairy".  wish the Ice Cream wasn't so expensive.  the Pumpkin's nice quality, tho.

after cleaning up after customers from 94 till 03, I don't eat out much.

Gosh, I shouldnt be looking at this. I'm on an all protien shake diet.  >:(

But when I'm not dieting, I like:
-The Claim Jumper (Mostly traditonal American food in big portions with a 'hunting lodge' theme)
-Outback Steakhouse
-Bucca de Beppos (Italian food, huge portions, very yummy)
-Cheesecake Factory (food is only so so, but I just love how they decorate the dining room XD )
-Spiros (Local pizza place me and my family go to all the time. Not to be confused with Sbarros, although Sbarros is good too)
-Taco Time (I work there, and I get 35% off, so why wouldnt I eat there? But the food is pretty good too)
-Ummm... You know what, I cant think of a single fast food restaurant that I don't like, though I think Dairy Queen is my favorite, their burgers are the best. :)

Ya'know, I would love it if I liked fruits and vegatables, but the fact of the matter is I don't. I hate them. Sure I would be healthier if I ate fruits and vegatables, but I gag on them. :(

I'm poor.  If I had moneys, I would eat more.  :)  But, anyway, I do have a few personal favorites.

1.  The Olive Garden -- For Italian, it's SOOOOOOO good.  I've only eaten there twice, but it was worth it.  I get hungry just thinkin' about it.  ...mmmm...
2.  RodŪzio Grill -- A restaurant of Brazilian barbeque items in Salt Lake City, Utah.  So, I've been to Brazil, and their barbequed meat is THE BEST (sorry, vegetarians).  It's so authentic, and I left there so full, I had to walk bent over.

And any Chinese place that isn't Panda Express is great!  :D

:o Pie heaven! That sounds good... might have to reserve a spot for myself there.

Also, I wish I knew all these Restaurant chains you people spoke of, haha.

When I'm on the road, I tend to hit Subway for lunch, and Waffle House for breakfast or dinner. I love me some waffle House.

For a decent steak, I'll stop in at Longhorn, or ocasionally at the texas roadhouse.

The best burgers and dogs I've found uasually come from those little mom & pop places you find in the small towns.  For a good burger in southeastern NC try Wards Grill in Whiteville.

For good BBQ, I like Joes in Whiteville. The do a good lunch buffet and its cheap.

I'm not a big fan of chinese, but on the rare ocasions I eat it, its uasually Red Palace.

I used to eat philly cheesesteaks often. The best I've found in my area is J. Micheals philly-delli in Wilmington.

Mexican: Moes in Worcester. We go whenever we see our friends, its like a subway for mexican food. Sooo tastey and good!
Italien: Olive Garden. Exspensive but worth it for the once in a while trip. The breadsticks alone are great!
Chinese: Pagoda Inn, or China Buffet. Mmmm..american chinese food...

But..the best of all...
*drumroll*
Chelo's!
*crickets chirp*
Alright, so they are only here in RI. ONLY. But there are like ten of them. Its so good! I want to go every month..or week...*laughs* Sweet potatoe fries are the best...namnam

Gotta say, Macaroni Grill is even better than Olive Garden. A LOT better. I don't know if they're only an east-coast thing, though.

I miss not being able to eat out, but when I can I really like Red Lobster. (Rare treat.) Olive Garden or Macaroni Grill, and I know a great Korean place north of where I live.

Holy moly, I completely forgot about Macaroni Grill.  I went there once, and it was THE best Italian... sadly, I live in a fairly small town, so we donīt have it.  Aww...

...I suppose I could travel for an hour and a half to eat there, but Iīd rather just stay here and eat my own spaghetti.  :D

Mexican and Chinese are alright.

Now, Indian?! As in Oriental Indian?

Huh. Need to search for one of those restaurants.

Um, I like Ryan's. Anyone else?
