Good Morning
« on: September 21, 2003, 08:37:37 am »
Hello, I have posted once before on here, but I haven't really said hello. My name is George, I have a website here http://linux-geek.livejournal.com which will tell you everything you need to know about me (click onto user info)....so I won't bore you with all that here.
I am particularly into reading books involving transformation. I hope to make a hot list on my forum soon (http://pub188.ezboard.com/bgeorgescommunity40543).

I have written my own story - called "The Bat Girl" and I hope to get it finalised before I can release it to everybody! I plan on positing it on a few transformation story sites. Trouble is, everytime i change it,I print it off and I add more changes...so it could take a while!

Please refer to me as batfreak or battie or batty or George (but not batgirl cos I'm not a girl :-P)

Ack! a linux techie freak.  Will soon be seeing posts on how VI is the best editor ever created and debates on which is the best unix shell *shudders*  '<img'>

I'm part of the techie world by profession and have found OS choice to be a religion to techies.  Windows and Unix users staring each other down and until recently both shaking there heads at that strange little cult of Macintosh.

Well keep posting Batfreak and have fun.  there are a couple of other linux fans on the board so I think you can even get some good techie discussions going.

I think I already said hi to you, but I'll do it again anyways.

Hi!

OK, now that thats done, I'm a Linux user myself, but I'm currently stuck on Windows because I need it for school and such.

And just in case I didn't say hi before:

Okay....I'm not *that* much of a techie. I'm more likey to be discussing how to get the latest linux client going for Doom 3 (when it is released) or Neverwinter Nights etc etc than which is the best shell. I don't actually mind macintosh users, but only if they have OSX, because it is, although they may hate to admit it, actually a linux operating system. Albeit that the user interface is closed source...it is still running a linux kernel and that is why you get the little shell icon in your task bar at the bottom ;-)

I am a fan of SuSE myself, and I am currently using SuSE 8.2. I should be getting my new laptop tomorrow, and I plan on sending the MS licence back to MS, ripping off the 'Designed for Windows XP' sticker and replacing it with a nice penguin!!

Anyway, if you replied to my post I presume you have joined my forum, where there is an geek-out for linux users *nudge nudge* and a forum about furry stuff, a forum about art discussions, one for anything you want and a few others too to promote my stuff *wink*

Well, I'm already active at over a dozen forums (inlcuing roughly seven where I'm a moderator or admin), so I kinda don't wanna join another. Although if I get bored, I may show up.

Just out of interest Snookitsme...why do you use windows? Is it for Office? Because you can run that on linux..... I can't really think of anything else which you would need for school..... other than those revision CDs. Even so you can get VmWare and run Windows under Linux as a virtual machine. (Don't expect it to be any more reliable though)
If you want to know more, post a question on my board *nudge*

Well, I'm the basketball statistician, and the software is for windows only. And both wine and winex completely destroy it. I haven't tried VMWare, but I don't have the time or energy to change back to Linux right now.

To be striclty correct, OS X is not Linux. It is UNIX, specifically, a variant on BSD. If you really want to know where it came from, OS X is a modernized NeXTStep. Now you know why Jobs had Apple buy up the remnants of NeXT.

Heya, George.
Again, welcome to the board. '<img'>
Should be interesting to see how that story of yours comes along. You must be a perfectionist type to be doing so many revisions without just calling it "done" like some folks do. Heheh.
