Greetings from a confused creature
« on: June 22, 2003, 09:08:22 pm »
This is going to be difficult for me.I have been aware of furry fandom for several years and even took part in it for awhile.I renounced the fandom after hearing about the zoophiles and plushophiles.I didn't want to be associated with those types and left the fandom in disgust.
However I'm finding out that being Furry or Were is not something you can simply shake off.For some it is in their very soul.I appear to be one of them.
I have no phenotype nor do I have a spirit guardian. At least if I do I don't know about it.I used to think I was dog but I am not.I only know that I am someone who identifies strongly with non human things. My name TBear comes from the fact that I collect bears and stuffed animals.I have done so off and on since I was very young. This is why I am so strongly against plushophilia.I don't want people to see my creatures and think I am involved with that.
At any rate I have decided to reenter the fandom.I hope to make friends here.

Hey, I'm glad you could make a return, Tbear.
Zoophilia and plushophilia don't really define the fandom, so it's not too hard to look past all that and get what you want from it. As I've said before, what you put into furry is what you get out of furry.
Enjoy the board. I believe it'll be right up your alley and you won't be disappointed. '<img'>

Welcome, tbear! I'm glad that you decided to stay furry.  '<img'>

But, yes, you're right about the whole pervert thing. It is unfortunate that a lot of people look at such things, then label all furries as odd, demented people who do such things. Hopefully we might be able to make a good image of ourselves.

Welcome TBear from another fairly recent addition to the forum.  This is a friendly a safe place to discuss your furriness.

Being a fur doesn't mean you are associated with ever sub facet of the fandom, and I suspect the large majority of furs do not partake in the activities you mentioned.  Remember, certain aspects of the fandom have been blown out of proportion by the press, becuase things found deviant by the mainstream sells.

Plushophilia doesn't bother me, but vore art and stories that some furs enjoy does.  I don't let the fact that vore exists stop me from taking part in all the facets of the fandom that I do enjoy, nor do I feel that since some in the fandom enjoy vore that I am associated with it.  I don't think the people who enjoy vore are bad or sick, I just know personally that I can't handle the concept.

The fandom is large, and you are going to find other furs who are into the same aspects of it that you are.  Enjoy your interaction with those furs, and mostly have fun.

Welcome to furtopia TBear!
I think that everything about plushophiles and the zoophiles has been more or less all said, so... yeah...

But we're all friendly and fuzzy here, until I see against, so enjoy yourself. Just sit back, relax, and enjoy the ride. ^^

Welcome to Furtopia Tbear! Much of which I would say has already been said, so I shan't bore you with my own version of a repeat. ^_^

Just want to say that Just as Humans are very varied, Furries are as well. There are many diffrent niches, both good and bad. Just remember this, it only take a few people to make the whole look bad. This is proven time and time again, not with just the furry fandom but all fandoms and communities. So I wouldn't let the bad stuff get to ya.

Again, Welcome, and welcome back to the Furry world ^_^ Hope you enjoy it. ^_^

Welcome back home.  I'm new to the fandom also, and I was a lot taken aback by the sexuality, especially by the homosexuality, sexual role-playing, zoophilia, and the plushiphilia when I was first introduced.  Yet, as I have said in another thread, sexuality is only a small part of a complex creature known as human or furry, and it did not cause me to recoil.  The fandom on the wide scope is filled with folks that love stoytelling and good art, primarily.

I know that I could never supress my furry side.  He is much too much a part of me.  So enjoy it and enjoy it with us.  Welcome to Furtopia.

Here's the best PG definitions I can come up with without being graphic.

A zoophile is someone that likes that have sex with an animal.

A plushiphile is someone that likes to have sex with a plushie (a stuffed animal)

Definitely.  The MTV version will leave you with a much more queasy feeling.

Being a furry or a were...seem to be totaly different matters all together. Like me...I am not a Furrie at all...but I am a Dragon in part. I get along better with open minded people so here I stay. Welcome to the boards too btw. Im Midnigth...one of the resident jack of all trades and artizans. Feel free to jump in and speak your mind. BTW...plushophile ...doesnt that mean 'loving' stuffed animals and blowup dolls? Doesnt seem like much to be embarrased about...just another fetish some one has and probably not much to be concerned about considering your not a stuffed animal *Grins*

Plushophilia, as I've heard, is one of the quickest "growing" fetishes. Apparently, more and more people are getting into it. I have a lot of plushies myself, but they're all staying virgins, whether they like it or not. '<img'>

Same here.I recently started to collect them again.I love em' I hold em' while I watch TV or surf the web,I even sleep with em'.But the idea of having sex with them is just way too out there for me.I believe everything has a spirit of some kind and as such I have too much respect for them to even consider doing anything like that.

All of my plushies are Disney characters.  I love them, but not that way.  Besides, they give me pleasure by being a part of my collection and making me feel that I am a part of the films and characters that I grew up with.  Childhood memory kind of stuff.  Taking them sexually would be to me a form of desecration.
