Hello, hola, aloha, Nihongo, etc.....
« on: June 06, 2003, 11:14:35 pm »
Hello all,
Well im new here and to the furry world in general, thought id wander in and say hi and ramble about myself for a few lines or pages, wichever comes first.  I guess i got started a few years back, i watched Akira and it blew my mind, it was animation, but not a cartoon. I fell in love immediately, ever since ive been addicted to all things anime. I was surfing anime sites one day when i found my first catgirl, once again i fell in love, i found a community i could relate to and escape with, ive had trouble fitting in with people all along in this little redneck community (the anime addiction didnt go over with my friends at all, "why are you watching cartoons, arent you to old for that?" buh-bye now). i guess what really clenched it was a walk i took in the woods the other day, and i walked up on a red fox and she (guessing, got a she sorta vibe at least) turned and looked at me and i looked back and we had a sorta connection for a few seconds, it was memorable at very least.  It kinda kicked me into gear to try to get in touch with my inner critter if you will, if youve read this far then bless you im almost done. The fursona im currently leaning toward is that of an anthro gray wolf whos sort of a wandering ronin, a masterless samuri looking to leave the violence and pain behind him (relates to my life in a metaphorical sort of way), he's right at 6 foot tall, 225 lbs (wide and stocky),wears a dark button up shirt, dark green cargo style pants, black gloves(also me, if anyone wants to know ill explain later), army boots and carries a katana, has light gray fur on his head, and dark gray everywhere else except a red braid on his chin, and carries a vertical scar across his left eye.   whew thats a lot for one sitting, well theres a little about me: J W  and my inner wolf: Nobunaga, thanks for takin the time, later
Or i could be wrong, its been known to happen,     a lot,       (headhang and sigh).

Nobu" means "faith", "trust" and "fiedelity". "naga" is the kanji for "long".

Nice to meet you Nobunaga and welcome to the Furtopia forums! '<img'>

I think part of the good of finding furry is finding your inner self, what you are connected to, and that your not alone.  I've myself have always had a strong connection to to canines and had a special encounter with a fox too. '<img'>

People that know me know I'm a "dog" person.  I have always loved and felt close to animals and nature.  It's in my blood. '<img'>

Vwelcome to Furtopia Nobunaga!

I really wish I had an encounter with a cute little woodland creature like you guys do. It sounds really neat, sorta like something out of a story, yet real. I really envy ya bout that. ^_^

I'm Jadnar, a Lupequine- Wolf horse hybrid. A bit of a Sci-fi Fanatic, and dabble in just about anything and everything relating to it. I can relate to yer problum about a redneck town. I live over here in Maine, little twin town called Norway/South Paris (yes they are towns here in Maine, USA) It is kinda hard to fit in, but I'm not letting myself get bothered by it, I sometimes flaunt my inability to fit with the rest of the puzzel, but acting nutsoid. I get some really neat looks from peeps, LOL It is alot of fun.

Once again, Welcome to the boards!

Thanks to everyone for makin me feel welcome, its a nice feeling. No matter how much i enjoy messing with people in the end feeling accepted is infinitely better '<img'> . I know this seems a little over-reactionary but you have to understand that i live in a community where school age boys are allowed  to take three "hunting days" a year to hunt with thier fathers. Try to explain a deeply moving experience with a fox or a wolf to one of these folks and they ask if you killed it, and then look at you funny when you say no. I didnt realize how lonely my inner furson was until i saw a reply here. i dunno lifes been kinda rough lately  '<img'>  and every little bit helps , thanks again, till later.
Btw: if anyone wanted to do a sketch of me i wouldnt argue (grin)

... i live in a community where school age boys are allowed  to take three "hunting days" a year to hunt with thier fathers.

Hunter safety was mandatory in 6th grade where I grew up.  I wanted to hunt for a little while when I was a kid basically to fit in.  I am so glad that my father was against hunting. I think my conscious would never forgive me If I had killed an animal for sport.

Childhood is rough when you don't fit in living in a rural area or small town.  I grew up in the rural part of Lancaster PA.  Think Amish (and no my family was not Amish).  Conserative politics, extremely conserative religion, and a huge distrust of anything and anyone from outside the area catagorizes the local population.  I used college as my chance to move far away from there.  I wish I had the Internet when I was growing up, as I suspect it would have eased some of the pain of being different.

Just remember.  It gets infinitely better the older you get.

Gosh, I know how ya feel Nob'. My area is full of hunters as well. My Uncle probubly the worse. He'll kill things just for the sport of it, wastes it all. He is the sort of person that would be hated with an extremity by the native americans. I am wholey against hunting myself, The sporty kind. It is a waste, cruel, and I find it rather disgusting. If it were to survive that would be a whole other story, but even then I'd rather eat a poisoness mushroom before I try and prey on the locals.

*shrugs* Humans are quirky. But as MadDawg' mentioned in another thread "Too each his own."

First welcome and hello too you n all that. YOu have come to the right place n what a place it is you can be sure to find information insperation n help from all of us. Hope to see you in some of the threds feel free too post n have fun.
Second never liked hunting although I shoot the only thing i shoot at is paper targets. I take a policy of if I ever had to kill anyhting it would be for survival and I would make as much use of it as i could. Never for sport that just goes aginst nature.
ooh nearly forgot bear hug is available if needed but due to demand are on a first come first serve basis  '<img'>

All I want too do is leave paw prints in the sands of time. (Garfield)

i agree with you bear, if it was survival i would do what need be, but i couldnt kill for sport, its not sport its cruel, when i was younger i tried sport hunting and killed a few small animals and i regret each and every one every day. On a brighter note, i think im starting to settle into who i am,and even though ive been set on a wolf i really have felt a very close connection with the fox lately, so id say im officialy a taller than average cunning little red fox.   '<img'>  '<img'>  '<img'> , i very happy little red fox.

btw, i might have to take you up on the hug sometime bear
thanks
