Okay...
« on: July 06, 2004, 12:32:17 am »
I've come to the realization over the last few weeks that I do next to nothing to promote my writing. With that in mind, I've decided to post something here to let anyone who's interested know that I have a story that I've worked on for some time posted on my homepage.

The story is titled Wild Rose Country and it is a work in progress. There are eleven chapters to date containing roughly 40,000 words. It is a survival/adventure story and deals with a human who is torn away from a normal 21st century life and dumped into a hostile wilderness. Injured and close to death when he arrives, he is rescued by one of the natives of this new world. She overcomes her fear of the unusual stranger and nurses him back to health. Together they must learn to rely on each other to help them survive in a world that has returned to the stone age...

Here's the link: Wild Rose Country. I'm interested to know what people here think of the story so far. I'm still learning how to write and any feedback is appreciated...
I let my mind wander once, but it never came back...

Okay, to start with, I have been reading your stuff for awhile, just about the time you posted chacter 10, and I haven't found a better writer yet.  I think the only thing left for you to learn in writing is publishing, or something like that.  WRC is a great story, but I hope you get chapter 12 up soon, what happens next?  I don't like "cliffhangers" in a good story.  I can't read ahead '<img'>
The Gift Of A Stranger is promising to be another excellent (sp?) work too.  Keep writing and I'll keep reading.
The burger returns...

Well, I'll read it as soon as I have time, Jona. I'm just a bit busy with (plug ahead) writing the second chapter of my column-like essay, entitled A Guide to Writing Fantasy. Actually, that gives me an idea: I'll do a chapter on writing anthropomorphic characters and worlds, as recently it seems a good few writers have asked questions about this.
"Pity this busy monster manunkind not..."
-e.e. cummings

"Go then. There are other worlds then these."
-John "Jake" Chambers

I'm not quite sure what to say to that, other than thanks  '<img'>

I'm doing my best to write new material at a faster pace, and so far it seems to be working. I have a good start on chapter 12 and hope to have it done withtin a month or two instead of six. And don't worry, I'm not going to stop writing any time soon. '<img'>

Andrew J, I look forward to your comments after you read it...
