Washing section in fursuit tutorial.
« on: November 06, 2008, 08:08:28 pm »
Ok, by now, everyone pretty much knows I'm working on a fursuit cleaning tutorial that I had mentioned here:
http://forums.furtopia.org/index.php/topic,33773.0.html
Well, now I need a little help (vote). I've finished working on the Supplies and Disinfecting sections, but now I'm kinda stuck on writing the Washing section. There are two options for how I want to write that section, but I'm not sure which one would be easier to write and preferable for everyone. Comments, Opinions, and suggestions are welcome.

Option A:
1. Supplies
2. Disinfecting a suit

3A. General Cleaning/Washing Advice
3B. Cleaning Heads
3C. Cleaning Handpaws
3D. Cleaning Footpaws
3E. Cleaning Tails
3F. Cleaning Bodysuits

........etc., etc.

Option B:
1. Supplies
2. Disinfecting a suit

3A. Cleaning/Washing using a Washing Machine
3B. Cleaning/Washing by Hand in Bathtub/Container
3C. Spot Cleaning by Hand

.........etc., etc.

Option A seems great, but I'm still curious about washing a suit in a washing machine.

The short answer is that washing some parts of a suit in a washing machine can be faster and/or more efficient, but the downside is that all that spinning and agitation could put stress on the fabric and cause seams to rip and/or cause other damages to fursuit parts.  x_x

Right, can you put a tail in the washing machine?

I 3rd the option of "A", but I like the idea of a thing about "spot cleaning"... maybe you could toss that into the general cleaning advice part. Since I see many times that you could get something on your suit, and knowing those quick spot clean techniques could really help!

Not really because the stuffing in the tail would get soaked and be too hard to dry out. I'll explain more when I get home from work tonight. ;)
