Kerbal Space Program
« on: September 12, 2013, 12:37:13 am »
Anyone ever played this game before?  It's addictive and hilarious.  A friend and I played it a few weeks ago...he tried to build a space plane, but it just wouldn't go straight, and we found it strangely amusing building things to intentionally explode.  I mean, it would just make the slightest contact with the grass and BAM!....everything explodes.  But we did make it to space a few times, using an ingenious mechanism designed by my friend.  It was a platform which the space plane rode, and when it got to the end of the runway and touched the grass, the game would make it explode and it would rip off the space plane in the most unrealistic, unsafe, and hilarious way possible...but hey, it launched somehow.  :)

And then for another one, we wanted to make a really really big ship, like in the opening scenes of Spaceballs.  But as soon as we activated the rockets, the whole thing just exploded.  Well, first the wings fell off, and then it exploded.  :D

See the game here.

But can you put a WW2 B-52 bomber in orbit with VTOL engines? Because in ksp you can ( it also had a crane attached to it).

I don't lag in the vab but I lag if I look at a planet/ moon. So my orbits have to be around 150-200km because at that point it stops rendering them and just uses the map versions but at different angles. And on lowest settings. You could try lowering your settings or roving the kerbals in the vab that wonder around on the floor.

its in the top left corner of the building room then once on the launch pad wait for a little light at the bottom left to turn green. then hold shift the press space bar. then wasdqe to control steer.  space bar to stage. shift/control control the throttle. lastly t turns on the sas ( stabilizer to help keep it under control)

Well, i don't think it  helped that my 'ship' as nothing more than a control pod welded to a fuel tank with a engine on the back... with a big fin sticking off the side.  :D

try using the symmetry option so instead of 1 fin you have 2 or 3 or 4 or 6 or 8

THIS THREAD MUST LIVE.

anyway if you didnt know by now squad ( makers of KSP) joined with NASA to create the ARM (asteroid redirect mission). it is an update to the game which adds 3, parts ( yay) THE CLAW "IT CHOSES WHO WILL GO AND WHO WILL STAY" and asteroids ( obviously) along with a few tweaks like time warp at the SC and an improved tracking station and MOST IMPORTANT OF ALL it uses a new unity version just released which allows its system specs to drop a good deal, so now my mac can run it at a functioning fps.

this vid explain all https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X7-l6Y9obdc
